Airswift is looking for an Deep Water Installation Engineer to work with our client on a 1-year contract role in Paris, France.
 

Job Dimension

The Deep Water (DW) Installation Engineer reports to the DW Installation Lead and supports the Installation Team in delivering the offshore DW scope. This position is currently located in offices in Paris, France (80% of time physical presence is expected), and will follow the execution team after Contract Award to the selected Contractor offices. During the execution period, there will be numerous international travels within Europe and to Mozambique.

The DW offshore installation scope includes multiple rigid pipelines (22in rigid trunklines, 10” production flowlines, 4”, 6” and 8” MEG flowlines), rigid and flexible jumpers, manifolds (and piles), umbilical lines, PLETs / ILTs structures (and foundations), sleepers, mattresses, and flying leads. 

Significant assets will be deployed by the DW T&I Contractor (S-lay and Reel-lay pipelay vessels, flexible lay vessel, heavy construction vessel, light construction support vessel, etc.). 

  • The job holder is expected to work with Contractor engineering team, assess installation procedures, oversee, and ensure the readiness and preparedness of Contractor’s resources for selected installation activities and associated vessels, in line with agreed execution plans and the Project HSEQ management system. 
  • The job holder is also expected to undertake regular missions to the site and board the associated vessels, duration of these missions is expected to span several weeks at a time within Mozambique, especially at mobilization of key offshore construction vessels.
  • Finally, the job holder shall work closely with the rest of the Installation Team to ensure consistency of approach exists across both the different scopes of work and flawless resolution of the interfaces between the two scopes

Activities

Support and assist the DW Lead with all DW technical activities during the tendering period and during the DW T&I Contract execution

  • Ensure that selected deep water work activities are performed in compliance with project technical requirements and are fit for purpose.
  • Oversee the DW contractor on selected activities of the DW scope of work to ensure that execution schedule, quality and HSES requirements are met or improved upon.
  • Implement a readiness review process to ensure a documented, progressive preparation is made by both contractor and company towards the start of site activities. 
  • Participate to risks and interface identification workshops and meetings, and make sure that risk mitigations are fully implemented, and technical interfaces are properly closed prior to any offshore operations.
  • Provide reporting function towards DW Lead for the selected DW installation activities.

Context and Environment

Mozambique LNG is a subsea (from 1,400m max wd to shore) dry gas field development located in the norther part of Mozambique close to the Tanzania border. The subsea field will be developed via 18 subsea wells, seven four slot production manifolds with associated foundations, one MEG manifold, three 22in trunk lines (approximately 120km total length), one 6in and one 8in MEG lines (approximately 40km length each), two 4in in-field MEG lines, eighteen 10in in-field flowlines (825 Alloy clad) with associated ILTs and FLETs for all pipelines and flowlines, 25 control modules for trees and manifolds, fours subsea routers, two main tie-back umbilicals (approximately 80km total length), five in-field umbilicals, twelve UTA assemblies, one hundred and eighty nine electro hydraulic flying leads, forty eight 10in flexible jumpers, rigid jumpers and spools (16in and 22in). First fuel gas planned in 2027.

Accountabilities 

  • Support the DW Installation Lead during the tendering period of the DW Transportation and Installation contract
  • Lead DW Contractor installation activities during the project execution phase.
  • ???????Interface with TGP technical subject matter experts on subsea pipelines, survey and geotechnics, etc.
  • Actively participate to the safe and timely delivery of the subsea facilities, with a high level of quality consistent with a 30-yr project design life.

Qualifications/Experience required

  • Offshore installation engineer with 5-to-10-year experience in pipelay and subsea installation within large scale EPCI/T&I contracts including S-lay, Reel-lay, Flex-lay, umbilical and structure installation work scopes in deep water environments.
  • ???????Able to identify, drive closure and prepare mitigation plans for both technical interfaces and execution risks related to installation vessel activities and procedures. Have a pragmatic approach to problem solving situations.
  • Ability to get along well with others in an international / multi-cultural environment
  • Fluid communicator capable to present and convince a group of attendees in a professional and organized manner.
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent is required with civil or mechanical engineering preferred.
