Electrical Engineer Level II

Responsible for driving and delivering safe and sustainable ‘fit for purpose’ electrical engineering services for the Resources Portfolio group. You may be working on multiple projects dependent on their size across various Resource clients.
Our client are also delivering projects focused on enablement of future green energy and decarbonisation goals for our clients which entails transition of infrastructure towards sustainability.

What you’ll do
We are looking for an Electrical Engineer Level II to join our team in Perth.
The role responsibilities include:

Delivering HV & LV electrical designs including detailed design of switchgear, MCCs and LV switchboards.
Electrical calculations required for design.
Preparing design drawings including SLDs, schematics, terminations ad general arrangements.
Preparing ITPs, MTOs, datasheets, specifications, methodologies, procurement and construction scope of works.
Power systems modelling and analysis for HV and LV electrical systems, protection setting coordination and arc flash analysis.
Reviewing vendor documentation and checking interfaces with brownfield infrastructure.
Prepare documentation for project design reviews, HAZIDs/HAZOPs and safety in design workshops as required.
Interfacing with other peers, seniors, engineering disciplines and Workshare team to complete engineering design and ensure delivery of high-quality deliverables.
Where required, prepare or assist in the preparation of project documentation such as budgets, estimates, forecasts, schedules, and reports.

Experience & Skills Required

An Australian recognised Bachelor qualification in the relevant discipline.
Experience in detailed electrical design and execution; understanding of project phases and types of deliverables.
Good understanding and experience in:
- Brownfield interfacing
- HV/LV power infrastructure systems
- Electrical calculations
- System Studies, Protection, earthing, arc-flash and lightning studies
- Design drawings such as SLDs, schematics, terminations, schedules
- Reviewing vendor documentation
- Preparing ITPs, MTOs, datasheets, specifications, methodologies, procurement, and construction scope of works
- Support input into electrical estimates and execution schedules
Site experience, equipment inspections, testing and commissioning is desirable.

About you

Degree qualification in Civil Engineering (chartered membership status – Engineers Australia).
Consulting engineering experience – at a Senior level.
A good understanding of design stages (OoM, PFS, FS, Execution).
Well-developed interpersonal skills to influence, negotiate & build productive relationships.
A keen eye for detail, good time management and a knack for problem-solving.

Key Accountabilities

Design and deliver Electrical systems for Heavy Industry Mobile Equipment (HME) and Rail Development projects in a safe, timely and sustainable manner.
Contribute to design reviews and validation of various engineering designs and associated component selection suitable for application.

Skills, knowledge, & experience required

Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering (essential)
Experience with development of electrical standards, processes and procedures.
Experience with Arc Flash Risk and management.
Experience with Functional Safety standard and compliance.
Experience with inverters, chargers and VSD with experience in electrical noise filtration is advantageous.
Experience in designing high voltage DC power systems.
Experience in contractor engagement and contractor management process.
Proactive and self-motivated, with a drive for excellence.
Results driven, responsible and accountable.
Strong knowledge of Australian and International standards relevant to Mining, Rail or Heavy Mobile Equipment.

We’re looking for a Principal Electrical Designer to join our Perth team.
As a Principal Electrical Designer, you will be focusing on the primary purpose of this role is to drive and deliver safe and sustainable electrical design on a for various sustaining capital projects. Large component of the scopes will have brownfield elements; strong design capabilities on brownfield projects is key.
The successful candidate is expected to be able to lead and coordinate the design deliverables, coordinate work amongst the team, ensure technical integrity of the deliverables and conduct work in line with company procedures. Not all roles on the project will require the individual to work in a lead capacity however ability to quality check and sign off on deliverables on behalf of the discipline is necessary.
Proven discipline project lead experience on brownfield projects is highly preferred.
What you’ll do
We are looking for a Principal Electrical Designer to join our team in Perth.
The role responsibilities include:

Deliver discipline specific design and drafting services that meet companu, the client’s and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
Perform discipline specific design and drafting services such as:

ensure the project scope is clear and that changes to scope comply with project change management process.
prepare/assist and oversee the production of engineering drawings and documentation.
ensure all drawings and documents are checked in accordance with Company checking procedures.
work done is on time and within budget; and
participate in project reviews as required.

Assist in scoping requirements and estimating design budget in response to requests for Lead Engineers.
Support the discipline in interviewing candidates for the project.
Communicate effectively and regularly with the project Lead Engineers, other discipline design teams, Workshare team and Project Engineers/Managers on design progress, technical matters, workshare, and resource planning.
Establish and maintain good working relationships within Company, with its clients and other.
stakeholders.
Identify issues and problems; develop appropriate and innovative solutions; and ask for assistance if required.
Interface with the instrumentation and control discipline to complete design scope.
Where working in the capacity of the project design lead:

Initiate, manage and supervise, design and drafting assignments with the home office and Workshare team.
Ensure technical integrity of the discipline’s deliverables through the implementation of checking and design review activities.
Provide technical direction, control and supervision for design on the project.
Deliver the discipline’s design deliverables within schedule and budget.
Manage quality and consistency within the discipline.
Coordinate change control and technical query process within the discipline.
Manage discipline resources assigned to the project.
Report progress of discipline deliverables.
Resolve discipline technical issues.
Maintain discipline task and deliverables lists for the project.
Coordinate design with other disciplines and squad checking deliverables.
Motivate and manage the team’s performance, competency and develop staff within the group including the provision of on-the-job training.

What you’ll have

A recognised design qualification (Advanced Diploma) in the relevant discipline or recognised Electrical trade qualification.
A decent relevant experience in designing and drafting with promising experience recently in resources (or closely allied) industry, BP preferred.
Proven lead role experience managing designers on multiple brownfield resources projects.

Essential:

Experienced, competent user of AutoCAD, Microstation (2D & 3D).
Competent in the use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite, PDF Exchange, Bluebeam.
Selection of electrical equipment (lighting & small power, control & wiring devices, enclosures).
Proven experience in designing electrical deliverables such as:

Single line diagrams – HV and LV
Three-line Diagrams
Schematics for panels such as incomers, feeders, VSDs and motor starters.
Cable schedules.
Material takes offs / BoM.
Electrical equipment layouts.
Switchroom layouts.
Earthing layouts.
Earthing diagrams.
Key interlocking diagrams.
Primary and secondary schematics.
Termination diagrams.
Panel general arrangements.
Lighting and Small Power layouts.

Preferred:

AVEVA 3D modelling packages, (PDMS, E3D).
Hazard area layouts.
