Our client in the Oil, Gas and Energy Industry is seeking to hire an experienced Flight Follower to be based its sites and head office. The Flight Follower is responsible for monitoring all company flights within and outside site. Advising Flight Dispatcher and Aviation Superintendent on aircraft movements throughout the daily scheduled program. Recording all data in Aviation Database and link with Site Admin for personal movement. Estimated up to 20,000 passenger movements per year.

Accountabilities:
  • Maintain clear and effective radio communications with flight crew and ground crew within the air operations area.
  • Liaise with other Flight Followers (Dispatchers) for requirements related to RW (Rotary Wing) and FW (Fixed Wing) uplifts.
  • Provide weather reports to crews, manned helicopter landing sites, airports, and departments on request.
  • RW and FW movements – conduct checking of PAX & freight manifesting for loading on RW and FW charters.
  • Ensure that load weights are within the payload limitations communicated by the flight crew.
  • Control if Dangerous Goods (DG’s) are declared and cleared with required documentation for uplift.
  • Transmit all flight details of arrivals and departures timely to Flight Dispatcher / Flight Follower concerned.
  • Record and log all flight movements on Aviation Database. ATA / ATD / POB / Load Weight / Description.
  • Document all interactions, or lack of, incidents in Flight Log (Considered a legal document that could potentially be used in court).
  • Relay flight / load information to destination helicopter landing site / airport.
  • Alert helicopter approaching to location of any traffic in area.
  • Keep constant watch on ground activity, with helicopters operating into location.
  • Provide clearance for lift-off, after landing for fuel / loading / shutdowns and start-ups.
  • Monitor SAR advice to flight service if required.
  • Collect POB information and flight details / manifests and pass onto Flight Dispatcher.
  • May be required to cover for Flight Followers at other manned helicopter landing site or airport within the project area.
  • Familiarize with RW and FW Operators SOPs, crew duty limitations, aircraft operating limitations.
  • Familiarize with Emergency Response Procedure.

Required Qualifications / Experience
  • Successful completion of a DG goods course would be desirable. Any other certificate relating to the position will be highly regarded.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to speak clearly and concisely. Strong administrative and analytical skills.
  • Ability to establish work priorities.
  • Ability to be able to effectively communicate with staff at all levels and maintain confidentiality.
  • Capable of solving problems in an efficient and diplomatic manner.
  • Ability to adapt to periodic changes in systems used in an Aviation environment.
  • Competent in the use of computers and Microsoft applications.
  • Shall be trained in the use of PTS (Personnel Tracking System).
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Aviation operations with sound knowledge of oil / gas industry
