The role:
The client is seeking a Senior Process Safety Engineer to oversee the adherence to process safety requirements throughout the design, construction, and operation phases of process facilities. The incumbent will be responsible for identifying and assessing potential hazards and risks, developing and implementing safety policies and procedures, and providing technical support to project teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with HSE Project requirements, standards, and guidelines.
  • Prioritize and lead by example in considering HSE concerns.
  • Assist Project Managers and Teams in completing Project HSE design plans and deliverables.
  • Incorporate outcomes of HSE studies and contractual agreements into Project HSE design plans.
  • Participate in project risk assessment sessions focusing on design and construction activities.
  • Prepare HSE technical specifications and procedures.
  • Provide support to other disciplines on HSE topics.
  • Coordinate with project team members to incorporate process safety requirements into facility design and construction.

Qualifications:

  • Education in an engineering discipline.
  • Familiarity with leading Process Safety studies (HAZOP, LOPA, etc.).
  • Background in Process Engineering.
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in HES during design phases of large CAPEX projects.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and standards (NFPA, API).
  • Experience with process safety management and risk assessment methodologies in projects.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within project teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of International standards and practices relevant to safety critical elements.
  • Excellent grasp of Health, Environmental, and Safety legislation in the chemical process/construction industries.
  • Willingness to travel internationally to Sluiskil.
  • Excellent communication skills with a respectful, no-nonsense approach.
