Responsibilities
•Job responsibilities are focused on preparing 3D CAD design models using the Smart 3D (S3D) software tool and creating 2D drawings in Microstation and SmartSketch for construction packages
•Types of Electrical design models and drawings will include a variety of drawing types, including but not limited to single line development, Medium and Low voltage cable sizing and schedules, medium and low voltage electrical control schematic, wiring interconnections, junction and control box design, heat trace systems design and layout, etc
•The Designer shall also be responsible for creating S3D models of cable tray layouts, underground conduit layouts, grounding/earthing layouts, lighting layouts, junction box and control station locations, etc.
•The individual will work under the direction of a Design Team Leader and will be part of a small energetic team
•In addition to using S3D, the individual will learn how to obtain relevant information, review vendor & equipment drawings, understand design criteria, and read project documents
•This position will interface with counterparts in other engineering and design centers located in India, England, and China
•Create S3D models for cable tray layouts, underground conduit systems, grounding systems, lighting layouts, junction box locations, electrical building layouts, and receptacle/control station layouts
•Complete detailed design drawings for electrical distribution and control systems
•Create Electrical drawings for site construction activities
•Review vendor submittals and equipment reference drawings
•Check drawings for accuracy and format
•Attend project & group meetings
•Interface with other Design teams – Civil/Structural, Piping, Stress Analysis, Mechanical & Machinery, etc
•The job may require occasional travel to domestic sites and other international engineering centers
Qualifications
•The individual must be self-motivated and have excellent verbal and written communication skills and a willingness to work in a team environment
•Technical school education with CAD or associate degree in Drafting
•Minimum 2-5 years of CAD experience in modeling & creating design drawings using software tools such as AutoCAD, S3D, Frameworks, MicroStation, Solidworks, or other 3D software
•Experience with Smart 3D and SmartSketch is required
•Willingness to learn new CAD software tools
•Willingness to learn electrical distribution and control concepts
•Create and populate 2D drawings from 3D models with guidance from discipline leads
•Must show attention to detail and possess the ability to work independently over time
•Working knowledge of Microsoft office software, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word

- Initiate, manage, and potentially supervise electrical engineering project requirements.
- Participate in meetings, prepare progress reports, and ensure compliance with checking procedures.
- Ensure project scope clarity and adherence to change management processes.

About You:
Technical and Industry Experience:
- Proficiency in technical and practical engineering skills, consistently delivering quality, accurate, and timely work to Client's Company and customers.
- Solid understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals and basic requirements of other engineering fields.
- Knowledge of relevant local and international standards and statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Competent use of electrical engineering software.
- Proficiency in relevant software, including the MS Office Suite.
- Substantial hands-on experience in electrical engineering within a similar industry, including multidisciplinary project and team collaboration.
Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:
- Recognized and relevant engineering degree.
- Preferred: Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status.
- RPEV or RPEQ registration or eligibility for registration.

We are seeking skilled Mechanical Designers to join our clients high performing team to contribute to Brownfields optimization projects in the mining sector. The successful candidate will primarily focus on detailed design for one of W. A's major mining giant's beneficiation plants on site.
It is envisioned that the successful candidate will bring MicroStation proficiency and previous experience working on mining projects in an EPCM environment.
