Airswift is working with one of our major Oil and Gas clients to find a Plant Operator II to join their team in Cold Lake, AB.


  • Liaise with Control Room Technicians and Operations Technicians on job safety to ensure work objectives, safety, health, environmental concerns, and Operations Integrity Management System (OIMS) are understood and adhered to.
  • Support the CRT/Ops Supervisor in overseeing area activities for safety and efficiency in operations.
  • Coordinate with contractor personnel to prepare and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Participate in Operations Emergency Response activities for the designated Area.
  • Assist in the start-up and commissioning of facilities by providing support and coordination with the Systems Completion team.
  • Review work packages for maintenance activities, ensuring isolation requirements are applied and preparation is safe for personnel.
  • Endorse Work Permits as the Area Operator or as the Isolating Authority when required.
  • Facilitate team effort between Maintenance and Operations groups to support work prioritization and effectiveness.
  • Ensure CRT is informed of operations and major issues, maintaining good communication across Areas.
  • Perform physical tasks safely when necessary, such as moving drums of chemicals and climbing ladders/silos/tanks.
  • Maintain a high standard of plant housekeeping and ensure quality control of end products.
  • Required industry experience in operations or a similar field.
  • Deep knowledge in production operations/processes, P&IDs, PFD’s, and UFD’s.
  • Ability to read shutdown logic diagrams.
  • Demonstrated high standard of Safety, Health, Environment aptitude and the ability to cultivate the same in others.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both oral and written.
  • Strong interpersonal and motivational skills, with the ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Advanced understanding of Emergency Preparedness Procedures.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety management tools and processes, including Permit to Work (PTW), Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and Risk Assessment.
  • Familiarity with Controls Integrity Management System (CIMS) and Production Operations Best Practices (POBP)/ Planning & Budgeting (P&B) processes.  
  • Working at Heights - Fall Arrest (Knowledge and skill)
  • Standard First Aid & CPRFire
  • Extinguisher Training CSE (SCBA)
  • Authorized Gas Testing (knowledge and skill)
