The successful candidate will drive consistent delivery across Resource and Energy clients while seizing current opportunities and expanding into nonferrous sectors such as lithium, nickel, and mineral sands.

We are looking for an individual with proven design management experience, ideally gained in the iron ore industry or related fields. Alternatively, we welcome ambitious senior civil designers ready to elevate their career by taking the lead in team management.

Our client values a flexible approach to work, understanding that individuals thrive when they can strike a balance between work and personal life. In line with this philosophy, they offer flexible and hybrid working options, providing you with the freedom to choose when, where, and how you work.

What you will be doing

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Overseeing the production of 2D drawings using MicroStation derived from 12D models or similar software.
  • Coordinating workshare activities across different offices.
  • Assisting the lead civil engineer in various tasks, such as participating in meetings, preparing progress reports, and ensuring compliance with checking procedures.
  • Facilitating the clarification of project scope and communicating any changes to the lead structural engineer through established project change management processes.
  • Collecting data from multiple sources and conducting engineering studies, analyses, calculations, etc., to support the development of technical solutions and recommendations, and producing final documentation for project deliverables.
  • Proactively addressing discrepancies between the Client and Customer requirements.
  • Staying informed about the latest developments and technological advancements in structural engineering.
  • Facilitating effective communication within the civil engineering team and with project stakeholders, including clients.
  • Identifying issues and challenges, devising appropriate solutions, and seeking assistance when necessary.
What you will bring
  • Possess a 2 or 3-year technical diploma with specialized training in the relevant discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and practical experience.
  • Demonstrate several years of relevant experience in civil design within the mining, energy, and/or infrastructure sectors.
  • Proven track record of effectively managing a civil design team is a prerequisite.
  • Experience in successfully delivering medium to large-scale projects within a multidisciplinary environment is desirable, though not mandatory.
  • Prior involvement in projects utilizing 3D modeling workflows is highly regarded.
  • Preference given to candidates with experience in the resource sector or linear infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency in civil design software such as 12D is necessary.
  • Familiarity with other design packages like Civil 3D or Inroads is advantageous and acceptable.
  • Essential prior experience in road design or large-scale earthworks projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within diverse team environments.

We welcome applicants who closely align with our requirements but may not meet all criteria to apply, as we value diverse perspectives and recognize the potential for growth and development within our dynamic team.
