The Principal Electrical Designer will be a critical part of the client's Site Project Team. The Site Project Team is an extension of the client's team located in Edmonton.
Responsibilities:
- Support Site Project Team Lead to achieve the overall site project team’s objectives.
- Working closely with client and construction team for site walkdown, and field verification as required.
- Act as primary Electrical and Instrumentation design interface with home office and site to ensure home office support expectations are satisfied.
- Conduct field walk, field measurement and visual check supporting HO team and site-based projects. Managing the priorities with HO leads and Site Project Team Lead.
- Coordinates with HO Electrical and Instrumentation Team, defining and resolving technical problems encountered or anticipated in the field.
- Collaborate with customer personal to ensure alignment on project goals and objectives.
- Perform Electrical design for site-based projects. Prepare construction drawings, work packages, material requisition (MR). Review supplier documentation.
- Turnaround (TAR) and Construction support including managing/filtering Electrical and Instrumentation RFIs, answering clarifications, and expediting HO responses.
- Work on shift during Turnaround (TAR).
- Escort for the client's visitors, ensuring Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHAs) are completed for all site visits.
- Attend Model review and Constructability review and contribute.
- Assist the field inspection within the client’s scope and technical expertise.
- The site electrical designer is not expected to work on the listed software. However, it is preferred to have the experience and knowledge to design raceway including cable trays and conduits, schematics and wiring, lighting, grounding and EHT for refinery projects in compliance with NEC.
- Candidates will be working closely with client and construction team for site walkdown, and field verification as required in coordination with home office based electrical and instrument design team.
- 10+ years of Electrical Design experience, especially in refining projects or industrial environment, nuclear, substation, petrochemical, midstream, upstream, and EPC with onsite experience.
- Experience in Engineering & Procurement (EP) Projects and Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management (EPCM) projects is essential.
- Working knowledge of field instrumentation is an asset.
- Familiar with industrial and regulatory codes and standards.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, Dialux for lighting design, AVEVA E3D for 3D modelling, Navisworks Simulate 2020 (for viewing models).
- Must be familiar with NEC requirements for electrical design for oil and gas projects.
- Good communication skills and work in team environment are a must to be successful for this site-based position.
