Our client seeks a Principal Project Planner to join the team in the Perth office. On offer is an initial 12 month contract.
The Project
Harnessing world-class technologies to offer a safer, cleaner, and more efficient future of mining, the Woodsmith Project is a new polyhalite fertiliser mine being developed in the North-East of England.  This multi-year greenfields project has sustainability principles at the core of its design and will set the standard for a new era.
To support this project, our clients engineering team is growing and we are excited to welcome a Principal Project Planner to join their Perth office.
Reporting to the Project Controls Manager, you will play a key role in supporting this major project and leading a team of planners.
Responsibilities
  • Manage and facilitate integrated planning sessions with key stakeholders.
  • Review and interrogate contractor schedules to ensure alignment with commercial requirements.
  • Accountable for overall reporting of construction progress.
  • Develop what-if scenarios as required to support project leadership.
  • Facilitate schedule Risk Analysis workshops as required through the project lifecycle.
  • Present high level project schedule reports to project leadership as required.
  • Ensure base line management is maintained through the project lifecycle.
About You
To be considered for this role it is envisaged you will possess a combination of work experience, skills and or qualifications in the following areas:
  • Experienced in multi-industries and multi Clients environments and worked in Capital , EPCM and Portfolio environments.
  • Experienced in site and construction planning including progress measurement.
  • Strong technical skills for review and analysis of contractor schedules.
  • Experienced in Managing a team.
  • Tertiary or trade designation.

Responsibilities:

  • Produce detailed design drawings, capital cost estimates, and a full suite of study deliverables.
  • Operate independently while having access to a principal for technical guidance.
  • Be responsible for project deliverables, demonstrating capability at a Senior level.
  • Exhibit strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to tasks.
  • Be an effective communicator, liaising directly with Engineering Managers, Project Managers, and Estimators.
  • Contribute to a variety of rail projects for different clients, including major projects and sustaining capital initiatives.
  • Possess knowledge of Pilbara Operator standards, as these differ significantly from Australian Standards.
  • Embrace a traditional consultancy role and seize opportunities for growth within Client's Company.
  • Apply true technical design engineering experience, with a strong focus on design rather than operations or maintenance.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably with qualifications verified by Engineers Australia if obtained overseas.
  • A minimum of 3-7 years of technical design engineering experience.
  • Familiarity with Pilbara Operator standards, distinct from Australian Standards.
  • Ability to work independently, taking initiative and showcasing problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
  • Willingness to work on diverse rail projects for various clients, encompassing both major projects and sustaining capital initiatives.
  • Eagerness to advance in a traditional consultancy role, leveraging the growth trajectory of Client's Company for future opportunities.

  • Knowledge of relevant local and international standards and statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Competent use of electrical engineering software.
  • Proficiency in relevant software, including the MS Office Suite.
  • Substantial hands-on experience in electrical engineering within a similar industry, including multidisciplinary project and team collaboration.

Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

  • Recognized and relevant engineering degree.
  • Preferred: Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status.
  • RPEV or RPEQ registration or eligibility for registration.
  • Relevant postgraduate qualifications in engineering, management, project management, or equivalent supervisory qualifications.
