Exciting Opportunity: Product Owner for Data and Insights Team

Are you passionate about data and ready to lead a dynamic team to new heights? Join us as the Product Owner for our Data and Insights team, where you'll drive innovation and deliver competitive advantages through effective data management and insights.

Position Overview:

As the Product Owner, you'll be at the heart of our Data and Insights team, managing the backlog, prioritizing tasks, and ensuring that our product vision aligns with business objectives. You’ll collaborate closely with customers, business managers, and development teams to understand and anticipate needs, guiding the product development process to success.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Law Platform Leadership:

  • Be the primary partner for the Law platform, engaging with customers and business partners to understand their needs and define implementation plans.
  • Align with broader product and platform strategy alongside the D&I product manager.
  • Collaborate with PMs, architects, and development teams to ensure alignment with business capabilities.
  • Work with the scrum master to adopt agile practices, enhancing quality delivery and value flow.
  • Partner with vendors and managed service providers to maximize value delivery.
  • Propose improvements to value delivery and present trade-offs with the SM and release train engineer.

2. Strategic Planning:

  • Act as the voice of the customer, informing value delivery and sprint prioritization.
  • Plan three program increments ahead, defining and managing short-term product vision and roadmap.
  • Review features for strategic fit and ensure alignment with business objectives.

3. Value Delivery Planning:

  • Collaborate with partners to identify acceptance criteria, stakeholders, and desired outcomes for features.
  • Prioritize the user story backlog, understanding their value drivers.
  • Review and scope features with the delivery team and PM to ensure clear and effective implementation.

4. Value Delivery Execution:

  • Communicate changes and ensure proper messaging to users and stakeholders.
  • Share responsibility with the agile team for product delivery against PI objectives.
  • Act as the initial point of escalation to remove delivery barriers.
  • Ensure reliability and SLA performance with the help of the D&I PM, architect, development teams, and MSP.

  • Translate business strategy into action, navigating through ambiguity and delivering opportunities.
  • Demonstrate a proven track record of results leveraging data initiatives and strong agile experience.

Schedule and Flexibility:

  • Hybrid schedule: 2 days in the office, 3 days virtual.
  • 9/80 schedule with core hours of 9am - 3pm, allowing flexibility to start earlier or end later.
  • Preference for ending later if based in Houston and starting earlier if in San Ramon to aid in overlap.


Professional Skills:

  • Effective communication with business and IT development personnel.
  • Leadership abilities to drive and communicate deliverables.
  • Strong network-building capabilities within the business.
  • Experience in product management, including backlog management and feature writing.
  • An inquisitive nature with a desire to learn new things.

Technical Skills:

  • Bachelor of Science degree.
  • Knowledge in data products, APIs, ServiceNow, and iManage is a plus.
  • Understanding of data architecture standards and the new IT operating model, including digital platforms and chapters.
