Project Engineer – Mechanical/Piping – Perth, WA

Job Overview:
We are currently seeking a suitably experienced and qualified Project Engineer with proven experience in working with a mechanical and piping focused design team to deliver complex projects. The successful candidate will join our Tier 1 EPCM client working across a major multi-year renewable fuels project.
It is envisioned that the successful candidate will have a strong background within Oil and Gas projects.

This key position will involve acting as the primary technical interface between the client and a high-performing design team, as well as monitoring project costs and assisting with the procurement process. The position will be offered on an initial 12-month contract and will be based at our client's facilities in the Perth CBD.

Your responsibilities will include;
  • Maintain a strong focus on Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) within the team to ensure the integration of Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental (OHSE) requirements into design and procurement processes.
  • Establish, nurture and foster positive client relationships while promptly and effectively resolving project-related issues.
  • Ensure adherence to the Project Management Process, contract requirements and implement an efficient change control process.
  • Monitor project costs rigorously, forecast final expenditures, identify trends and implement proactive measures to prevent cost overruns.
  • Facilitate clear and effective communication among the design team, third-party stakeholders, and provide accurate and comprehensive reports to the project manager.
  • Set clear objectives for the design team and efficiently manage interfaces between various disciplines.
  • Provide support as needed throughout the procurement process to ensure that goods meet specifications, are delivered punctually and remain within budget constraints.

About You:
  • Hold a recognized engineering degree in the mechanical / piping discipline.
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status is preferred.
  • Previous technical, practical and leadership experience in the mechanical / piping discipline and proven experience in managing a discipline design group.
  • You will be an enthusiastic team player, with excellent stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working for an engineering company is beneficial.
