Airswift has been tasked by a major Oil and Gas client to seek a Safety Advisor I to work on an initial 6-months assignment in Carlsbad, NM.  

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Coaching: WMS/PSMS champions are not there to provide all the answers, a champion empowers field personnel to take ownership of WMS/PSMS execution, coaching them to work effectively in the system and utilize existing resources.
  •  Can effectively communicate the need for and intents of the WMS and PSMS systems
  • Ability to deescalate confrontation and deliver positive solutions.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude even when faced with adversity, either from individuals or circumstances.
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively with individuals in various roles across the organization
  • Contractor Engagement: a. Establish relationships with contractor’s field leadership and personnel. b. Clearly communicate WMS/PSMS requirements to contractors c. Provide tools and guidance on work execution expectations to contractors. d. Identify gaps, develop and execute plans to close gaps in contractor training and execution.
  • Ensure establishment and proper implementation of work processes at the site level as stipulated in the Project Safety Plan and the Project Security Plan
  • Monitor, investigate, identify, and resolve site level SSHE issues, evaluate metrics, and provide weekly/monthly reports to responsible line management, Project Team SSHE Team, and Function, as required
  • Work with company and contractor’s site management and Safety, Security, Health, and Environment (SSHE) organizations to implement project specific site safety programs
  • Assist in implementation of systematic safety processes to assure compliance with the Project Safety Management System (PSMS) requirements
  • Identify and assist with prioritization of opportunities for site safety process improvements
  • Organize and coordinate SSHE training program
  • Provide support for training, drills, and other matters related to emergency preparedness and response.
  • Prepare/provide a safety induction briefing to new team members and visitors to site
  • May collect and report security or health metrics when no security or health advisor is assigned
  • May be asked to provide other services by the SSHE Function, Project Leadership Team, and / or (Senior) Project Safety climbing, bending, walking, reaching, and other physical demands)
  • Ability to work in harsh environments (examples include temperature and / or humidity extremes, remote locations with limited amenities) with changing priorities
  • Ability to set priorities and work independently in performing contractor services with an appreciation for company processes and procedures
  • No training will be provided (other than the company’s specific safety standards and procedures)

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Three years or greater in a field role
  • General knowledge of field production operations
  • Knowledge around support organizations (IC&E, Maintenance, Wellwork, ALS etc.) is preferred
  • Must be able to build a case for action and influence behavioral change within the organization
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work without supervision
  • Must have good communication skills
  • Able to build relationships with field personnel and stakeholders
  • Manage travel to remote field sites
  • Travel to remote sites outside of your operating may involve early and late days
  • Able to support trainings and field roll-outs outside of base operating area
  • Able to be away from home for one week per month
  • Must be comfortable working with individuals across various crafts
  • Must be comfortable presenting training material for large groups
  • Must be capable of offering positive and constructive coaching
  • Must develop comprehensive understanding of the following material:
o WMS Manual
o WMS Appendix A
o PSMS Safety in the Moment content and supplements
o PSMS Safety Capacity content and supplements
o Latest revision of the Unconventional Safety Handbook
