- Based in PRL 15 this role extends to multiple sites within and beyond PRL 15 to include the project area of influence in the Gulf Province. The number of sites is reflected in the number of drilling, seismic and survey operations being conducted at any one time.

Operations:
- Supervise, deploy, and monitor site based contracted security guards and government security forces personnel
- Mentor, train, assess and develop all security personnel attached to Upstream sites
- Develop and implement security improvement programs; to include detailed work and budget plans, procedures, training, and assessment tools to enhance security at all sites
- Maintain timely communications with Senior Management of incidents or developments that may result in personal injuries, interference with operations or that may cause property loss
- Provide recommendations to site management teams to protect company's personnel and its assets, to minimize exposure to security or other related risks
- Identify security technical solutions to reduce ongoing operational costs and improve security and operational efficiencies
- Establish information networks essential to Security Operations
- Maintain site intelligence networks to populate a security data base
- Conduct investigations and provide guidance in areas of investigations relating to theft, fraud, security breaches or other incidents
- Provide security briefings, inductions and training as required.
- Build relationships and participate with community entities, peer companies, mining industry working groups and mining contractor security professionals
- Prepares weekly reports and any other ad-hoc reports when requested by the management
- Direct security related activities during emergency situations by staying apprised of emergency response systems, monitoring emergency activities and supervising personnel.
- Maintain the good working relationship with Community Relations to ensure all community/project security related issues are dealt with in a safe and timely
- Implement, manage, oversee and review the application of the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights (VPSHR) programs to ensure company personnel, Contractors, Government security forces and visitors are aligned and comply
- Provide guidance and support to other department’s personnel, contractor personnel and visitors, being a conduit for site management teams to ensure open and timely communications
- Interface with community leaders and members of those communities providing proactive information on security activities that support operations within their areas
- Performs regular Service Quality Meeting (SQM) with contractors
- Act as Team Commander during any security related crisis as per the Site Contingency Plan
- Provides Security oversight and advice for all company personnel when Security Manager is out of country
Prepares weekly reports and any other ad-hoc reports when requested by the management.
Context and environment
- New affiliate of the company in Papua New Guinea, being of strategic importance for our core LNG business and operations
- Operating the second LNG project for Papua New Guinea
- Incumbent is based in Herd Base, Papua New Guinea.
- Work regime: 35 days on by 35 days off rotation.
The purpose of the Security Superintendent position is to provide complete security professional coverage across all Upstream sites to supervise, deploy and train Contracted Guards and Reserve Police to support company personnel and Contractors in reducing loss and increasing operating efficiencies.
Required Qualifications / Experience Qualifications: Tertiary qualification in security and risk management
Experience:
- Site security experience in the extractive industries (Oil & Gas, mining)
- Minimum 10 years experience in security, law enforcement or military operations
- Minimum 5 years Supervision experience in security operations with multi facet teams in resource or industrial sectors
- Possess strong influencing and negotiation skills and the ability to develop and maintain constructive relationships with management, team members, peers, police and other external agencies
- Demonstrate strong conceptual skills, and capable of developing lateral and practical solutions
- Manage multiple projects and tasks at the same time
- Conduct studies and collect data to detect sources of loss and risks
- Organize and interpret field data and identify necessary corrections
- Prepare clear, concise, and accurate investigative and narrative reports
- Maintain records, and prepare reports and correspondence related to the security risks, crimes, and incidents
- Managed Security operations during major construction and development projects
