Our client seeks a Senior Estimator, Perth based working for a major EPCM to a Tier 1 Mining client.
As the Senior Estimator, you’ll be responsible for managing the detailed estimates, analysis and pricing schedules for a major mining project. Joining us on a 12-month initial contract, you'll be working across a number of projects within an integrated project services function. You will be required to monitor progress, prepare schedules and reports, and ensure the client scope is met to expectation. This role will see you:

Prepare detailed estimates in accordance with the scope of work
Create pricing schedules, complete material take-offs, and prepare cost budgets in a variety of formats
Preparation, follow-up, and analysis of Request for Quotation (RFQ) documents for various equipment vendors
Monitor project progress and monthly reconciliation of project cost against allocated budget
Developing spreadsheets for costing labour & materials in meeting tender requirements
Analyse actual fixed and variable costs for use in tendering pricing

About you:

Relevant Tertiary Qualifications – ie. Degree in Engineering, Commerce or similar
Prior working experience within an EPCM/ESP environment, ideally working on large scale mining projects
Established knowledge of subcontractors and suppliers in WA and Pilbara region
Strong written and verbal communication skills, and excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Strong commercial acumen with prior experience in mining services contracts

Responsibilities:

Produce detailed design drawings, capital cost estimates, and a full suite of study deliverables.
Operate independently while having access to a principal for technical guidance.
Be responsible for project deliverables, demonstrating capability at a Senior level.
Exhibit strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to tasks.
Be an effective communicator, liaising directly with Engineering Managers, Project Managers, and Estimators.
Contribute to a variety of rail projects for different clients, including major projects and sustaining capital initiatives.
Possess knowledge of Pilbara Operator standards, as these differ significantly from Australian Standards.
Embrace a traditional consultancy role and seize opportunities for growth within Client's Company.
Apply true technical design engineering experience, with a strong focus on design rather than operations or maintenance.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably with qualifications verified by Engineers Australia if obtained overseas.
A minimum of 3-7 years of technical design engineering experience.
Familiarity with Pilbara Operator standards, distinct from Australian Standards.
Ability to work independently, taking initiative and showcasing problem-solving skills.
Exceptional communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
Willingness to work on diverse rail projects for various clients, encompassing both major projects and sustaining capital initiatives.

Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

Recognized and relevant engineering degree.
Preferred: Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status.
RPEV or RPEQ registration or eligibility for registration.
Relevant postgraduate qualifications in engineering, management, project management, or equivalent supervisory qualifications.
