The Project Controls Scheduler will support the Engineering Department in project development and execution. This includes execution of standard budgeting, forecasting, cost control, earned value and change management practices throughout the life of a project.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop communications and reporting networks for data gathering, review, analysis and presentation of recommendations to ensure projects remains on schedule and within budget.
- Communicate schedule status & recommendations to the project teams to maintain the projects within approved budgets and cash flow constraints.
- Work with project teams to develop and maintain project work breakdown structures according to MPC & Project Controls standards.
- Review and maintain project performance measurement systems (Primavera P6) and reports for contractor progress.
- Ensure both MPC and contractors adhere to project control procedures and reporting requirements.
- Support Project Controls Supervisor with monthly portfolio and project status reporting.
- Interface with various departments to gather information, communicate issues, and resolve problems.
- Prepares and keeps current master program and project plans as well as sub project plans for monitoring and tracking.
- Provides information as needed on the content, modification, or presentation of project schedule.
- Identifies and records the impact of work performed and not performed as scheduled. Evaluate actual engineering progress and provide regular schedule updates.
- Interfaces with Operations, Owners, and Subcontractors to discuss impact of work and resolution of problems.
- Contributes to the development of working schedules for Estimating, prior to execution date, which sufficiently illustrates the sequence of work activities and project timeframe.
- Prepares and issues preliminary phased schedules.
- Incorporates resource loading data into schedules as required.
- Consults the appropriate project team members and MPC’s estimating procedures as a means of ensuring that proper planning is completed prior to the commencement of work.
- Assists Project Managers in creating short-term schedules, monitor such schedules to determine impact on master schedule, and help in formulating actions to correct scheduling problems.
- Develop & maintain regular manpower estimates/histograms for current, upcoming, and future work for short term and long-term forecasting manpower needs.
- Perform EVM analysis on projects in engineering phase.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or an equivalent field preferred.
- Computer Proficiencies: Preferred proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Advanced Excel Experience) and experience with SAP. Planning and Scheduling software Primavera P6 is strongly preferred.
- Experience Preferred: Minimum of one year of experience in executing, contracting, planning and scheduling projects work required.

The Role
We are seeking a skilled Civil Engineer to join our Perth team. In this role, you will:
- Complete civil design of open and closed drainage structures, retaining walls, laydowns, and general civil design around processing plants.
- Prepare calculation packages to support designs.
- Advise the lead engineer on project scope and assist with changes in compliance with project change management processes.
- Support the lead structural engineer where opportunities arise, ensuring successful delivery of project requirements.
- Communicate effectively with the structural engineering team and project stakeholders.
- Identify and resolve issues, developing appropriate solutions and seeking assistance when necessary.
What You'll Need to Succeed
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a relevant field.
- Extensive experience in structural engineering design within the mining, energy, and/or infrastructure sectors.
- Experience with civil engineering software such as Drains, StormCAD, MicroStation, and AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of pavement design and design standards.
- Ability to design drainage networks.
- Proficiency in using the 365 suite and various collaboration tools.
- Strong independent working skills and the ability to work as part of a team.

The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Principal Civil Engineer to partner with our client to drive solutions that provide the energy, chemicals and resources that society needs now.
Responsibilities
- You will be supporting a team of engineers and designer to delivery civil design of open and closed drainage structures, retaining walls, laydown and hardstands, underground drainage network and general civil design around processing plant.
- Be responsible for the technical delivery all civil elements that is supported by calculation packages.
- Perform supporting tasks such as:
- Participate in relevant meetings, prepare progress reports and follow required checking procedures;
- Ensure the project scope is clear and that changes comply with project change management processes;
- Provide assistance and advice during procurement, construction and commissioning activities. For example, write requisitions, conduct technical bid evaluations and write purchase orders.
- Scope management relating to the civil design;
- Technical supervision of inexperience engineers;
- Cross disciplinary coordination to ensure successful delivery of Customer’s requirements
- Communicate effectively with the structural engineering team and project stakeholders, including the Customer.
About YOU
- Bachelor of Civil Engineering or relevant undergraduate degree with extensive experience in civil engineering design in the mining, energy and/or infrastructure sector and previous experience in either heavy industrial or petrochemical plant projects is not essential but advantageous.
- Leadership in mining or fuels projects
- Experience with managing drainage/ effluent system in petrochemical and exposure to petrochemical facilities is desirable.
- Familiarity with software such as MicroStation and AutoCAD and with bulk earthworks design, drainage and heavy pavement design.
- Worked with team with diverse background and proven experience in managing a project team and should be highly focused on delivery and service.
- Highly effective technical and practical engineering skills and ability to consistently deliver quality, accurate and timely work to its customers.
- A sound knowledge of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Experience in using of various civil engineering specific software, proficient use of civil engineering specific software and exposure to MWRA design standards is desirable.
- Experience in delivering complex civil engineering project experience in working in multi-disciplinary projects and teams.
