Airswift is supporting a global engineering client, to work on a state of the art green hydrogen project in the north of Sweden.
We are seeking an experienced HSE Specialist to work in a dynamic environment, and will be responsible for solving complex HSES-related problems and use discipline specific knowledge to improve HSES performance.
Key Responsibilities and background:
- Implement HSES Management System considering the particularities of the Company, Client and applicable legislative regulatory requirements
- Drive a common and consistent risk based HSES culture
- Develop and implement HSES plans, procedures, and instructions as required by Contract and in line with corporate and legislative requirements
- Facilitate and participate in risk assessments and ensure risk registries are maintained up to date
- Develop HSES Activity plan and ensure all HSES requirements, including inspections, audits, and emergency response, are listed and scheduled
- Monitor for effectiveness and assist in the implementation of Project HSES Management Plan
- Prepare, schedule, and conduct internal and external HSES audits
- Complete subcontractor/vendor HSES pre-qualification and bid evaluation process
- Manage subcontractor/vendor HSES Performance
- Work closely with the PMT and sub-contractors on the development of suitable hazard control interventions
- Review client HSES documentation as required (Policies, Procedures, etc.) and perform Gap Analysis to Project procedures when required
- Establish and manage tangible KPI’s relevant to the area of responsibility
- Monitor HSES statistics and identify trends
- Report trends promptly and prepare action plans to promote continual improvement
- Actively participate in safety programs and other initiatives
- Plan, lead, and participate in HSES meetings
- Follow-up closeout and maintain HSES actions
- Ensure HSES resources are adequately assigned
- Complete personal development program and ensure appropriate development program for mentees
- Lead and assist with incident investigations and prepare reports
- Engage and facilitate HSES client interface where necessary
- Report all injuries, near misses, property and environmental incidents promptly
- Contribute to the production of HSES information, training, education, and awareness material for the Project and business line
- Assist with the development and maintenance of Emergency Procedures
- Maintain a high standard of safe working practice, quality, and productivity, and ensure compliance with the code of business conduct
- Coordinate Project HSES activities
Critical Skills & Personal Attributes:
- Degree/Diploma (or equivalent combination of education and experience) in HSES related field
- Experience in the Energy Industry
- Advanced understanding of local and international HSES laws, codes, and regulations
- Trained and experienced ISO standards lead auditor (9001, 14001, or 45001)
- Ability to work as a team member as well as act as a team leader
- Maintain key competencies associated with the HSES function
- Statistical and data analysis ability
- Communication and presentation skills, both written and spoken
- Computer literate in Microsoft programs: Word, Access, PowerPoint, Excel, Project

Purpose:
- Senior level experience in refinery processes with medium to large projects and able to lead an electrical engineering team consisting of engineers and designers. Must have experience in and be able to estimate manhours required for completion of work, successfully prioritize, and assign work per schedule requirements and be able to communicate and report to project management. Engineer must have experience in verifying completeness and quality of work performed.
- Provide technical direction to engineers and designers in the execution of electrical scope of work on medium and large size projects.
- Coordinate with plant management and discipline manager to ensure execution of electrical scope of work coincides with the company's standard practices and procedures.
- Perform routine and complex engineering, design, analysis, and other technical tasks within the electrical discipline utilizing current technology, available standards, calculation software, templates, and cataloged products.
- Prepare/review load lists, power system studies, single lines, equipment layouts, area classifications, sizing calculations, schematics, equipment specifications, data sheets, requisitions, and technical bid analysis.
- May work independently on special assignments or as part of a working team.
- Implement Company and Client Standards/Procedures while seeking improvements to work processes and design approaches.
- Develop and maintain a quality design threshold for the discipline through use of understandable quality procedures.
- Ensure all work carried out conforms with agreed codes and practices, meets all requirements of the contract’s specification, and ensure all work is carried out within agreed schedules, budgets, and procedures in safe manner.
- Mentor subordinates.
Technical and Industry Experience
- Previous experience creating grounding, area class, power, single line, and motor control drawings with a clear understanding of protective devices and coordination techniques
- Knowledgeable of the ANSI, IEEE, API, NEC, and other industry codes, specifications, and standards
- Familiar with arc flash requirements and calculations.
- Able to perform engineering calculations, e.g., load flow, short circuit, harmonics, equipment sizing, large motor starting, grounding, transient stability, electromagnetic transients, insulation coordination, etc.
- Familiar with and able to specify high, medium, and low voltage electrical equipment (MCC’s, Transformers, switchgear, etc.)
- Ability to interface with and understand client needs.
- Ability to lead and interact with engineers and designers with clearly established expectations.
- Previous experience with electrical modeling and analytical software, e.g., ETAP or EasyPower and performing various power systems and transmission line studies.
- Previous experience participating in TIC estimates.
- Ability to manage scope, schedule, and budget on assigned projects
- Familiar with electrical construction techniques, installation practices and plant start-up requirements.
Required:
- A Bachelor’s of Electrical Engineering degree from an accredited college or university. Has 10 to 15 years of relevant experience.
- PE in Colorado preferred

- Compile and follow up on WBS, OBS, and CBS schedules/plans; report financial and operational performance.
- Manage customer relationships, address concerns, and follow up on solutions for operational/contractual performance.
- Control and monitor progress, scope, costs, resources; gather data & KPIs for reports and improvements.
- Support Risk and Opportunity Management activities and manage the risk register.
- Establish document management, support proposal delivery, and analyze Program Performance Summary (PPS).
Requirements:
- High School diploma or bachelor’s degree; 3 to 6 years of manufacturing experience considered - must have worked onsite manufacturing projects.
- Technical understanding or experience in a complex manufacturing company.
- Proven experience in project coordination, ERP systems, and delivering comprehensive program reports.
- Strong user of Microsoft Office package (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); ability to create structure and accurate administrative support.
- Customer-focused, proactive, strong communication skills; ability to work independently and in a team.
