Position Overview:

 

Imagine being the maestro of the Systems Engineer orchestra, orchestrating the symphony of LAN/WAN, computing, and communications infrastructure. Your mission? The guardianship of maintenance, implementation, security, monitoring, troubleshooting, and ensuring the seamless operation of it all. As the custodian of IA information systems, you're the sentinel of networks, services, servers, and data security. More than just a tech virtuoso, you're a collaborative force within the ensemble, weaving through IA departments and studios to meet the tech needs of all.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Administer Active Directory and associated Windows server services, focusing on system security and reliability.
  2. Collaborate within a team to plan, manage, and maintain the Azure environment.
  3. Manage the Hyper-V environment, ensuring the reliability of mission-critical applications and planning for future organizational needs.
  4. Oversee and maintain the LAN/WAN/SD-WAN environment for organizational offices and data center facilities, including VPN, remote desktop services, etc.
  5. Monitor usage trends and traffic volumes, assess methods to improve performance, and recommend upgrades in hardware and infrastructure as required. Ensure the security of related hardware/services.
  6. Manage server operations and conduct maintenance tasks and upgrades as needed to ensure security, reliability, and meeting organizational needs.
  7. Apply security patches as needed according to IT policy. Maintain monitoring systems to address and resolve outages promptly.
  8. Develop tools and automations using PowerShell to enhance and streamline IT and related business processes, utilizing Git for code management.
  9. Document system processes and responsibilities, regularly updating documentation based on changing environments.
  10. Manage and maintain data storage systems, including backup software and disaster recovery planning. Analyze usage and forecast future needs.
  11. Provide level three support for end-user computing via Service Desk ticketing systems, ensuring daily updates and expedited resolutions.

 

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • ITIL or relevant Microsoft certifications are advantageous.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in areas such as highly available network maintenance, network infrastructure planning and implementation, Cisco networking equipment configuration, Windows server environment maintenance, Microsoft networking technologies (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP), and Office 365 management.

 

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting ability.
  • Experience in planning, implementing, and maintaining network storage for servers, file sharing, and database applications.
  • Proficiency in supporting remote access technologies like VPN and web-based remote access tools.
  • Familiarity with network technologies, routing protocols, and traffic engineering techniques.
  • Experience managing network and security in a multi-site office environment.
  • Preferred 2-3 years’ experience with Azure web services.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard anti-malware/security software.
  • Effective time management skills, ability to organize work for multiple simultaneous projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Understanding and application of emerging technologies to business problems and opportunities.
  • Understanding of ITIL best practice concepts and ability to prioritize and remediate issues as appropriate.
  • Experience with SOC 2 security and compliance.

 

Communication:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with a geographically dispersed team.
  • Ability to write technical documentation for use by other team members.
  • Capability to work with internal customers to analyze problems and recommend solutions.
  • Ability to assist staff in adapting to changes brought on by new technology.
