We have an opportunity for a Welding Inspector to be based in Antwerp, Belgium; the successful candidate(s) will be engaged on an initial 12 month contract, with the option for further contract renewals.
Main Accountabilities
- Review and comment subcontractor welding/NDT procedure & qualifications (i.e. welders lists, NDT operator lists, welding consumables management procedure, piping/structural steel certificates, material traceability procedure, Welding Summary List and Welding traceability Reports, etc)
- Perform witness, inspection & surveillance checks and assess continually Welding/ NDT subcontractor’s performance
- Ensure that all inspection activities are recorded in the appropriate records.
- Ensuring quality of the work for compliance with CQCP, approved ITP’s/ procedures and standards within assigned areas
- Monitor Subcontractors QC resource levels to achieve quality standards according to agreed ratio
- Issue status and trend reports as necessary and requested by Site Management providing suggestions on how to improve quality of welding/ NDT activities
- Record deficiencies and/or incomplete works on punch items and liaise with supervisor/ superintendent to expedite necessary rectification
- Identify and document Subcontractor and Supplier quality deficiencies and initiate non-conformance process as required.
- Verify that materials used are in accordance with project technical documents and applicable codes and specifications.
- Support QC/ turnover team for collecting relevant QC records
- Implement HSE procedures and standards in compliance with applicable laws, Health and Safety Documentation and Environmental Management Manual.
- Be diligent and draw attention to unsafe acts, unsafe behaviours and unsafe conditions.
Required experience / Qualification:
- Be in possession of international current certifications for the role in compliance with IIW; PCN or CSWIP.
- Be in possession of current qualification of II level NDT in compliance with ISO 9712
- Be fully conversant with EN standard and AMSE (B31.3) code requirements and have a solid and demonstrated background on welding engineering (e.g. multiple days courses by internationally recognized institutes)
- Previous experience in application of EN1090 (structural steel) and Pressure Equipment Directive PED (for piping) would be preferable.
