JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise and quality control geological operations at the wellsite
Quality control sample descriptions of cuttings and cavings
Act as liaison with key drilling and data acquisition personnel at the wellsite and in the office in a timely manner
Supervise and quality control data acquisition activities at the wellsite
Monitor ROV feed for shallow flow or adverse conditions during riserless drilling
Ensure all geological and data acquisition contractors perform their duties in a satisfactory manner
Perform Well-site log correlation and aid in selection of casing points and TD
Generate and Deliver:
Daily geological reports and data distribution
Produce a well data book with all well events and information included.
Support delivery of a post well Composite Log
Cuttings and cavings reports to inform on well conditions
Final Well Report at the end of each hole section and the well.
Capture Lessons Learnt (including from 3rd parties) for each hole section.
Inputs with the daily NDS 12hrs ahead presentation.
Evaluate and interpret geological data including cuttings samples and offset well data.
Communicate to the well-site team regarding upcoming geological hazards
Proactively inform the well-site team of imminent section/well TD
Ensure that all well information, including reports, data and logs are uploaded daily
In addition to the above, senior wellsite geologist position will include (not limited to):
Oversee intake and competency assessment of newly hired wellsite geologists
Ensure training and development plan for WSGs addresses any gaps and complies with all regulatory and operator requirements
Coordinate and prepare pre-drill data repository and supporting documentation
Prepare supplimental exhibits and materials to aid in offshore communication of subsurface and operational information regarding the well plan.Inspect working area (rigsite) to ensure fit for service, work with drilling vendor to address any site-specific gaps as required
Review 3rd party operating procedures related to wellsite geology and data to ensure best practices are employed, working with vendor to amend as needed.
Establish a duty roster and rotational logistics plan for Wellsite Geologists
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
A post-secondary degree in geology or related field of study
Experience in wellsite and operations geology working in or around offshore Brazil .Preferably working with pre-salt wells.
Capability to work offshore in Brazil, including certification or fitness to obtain certification for offshore safety and survival (Sponsorship not available)
Techlog user experience will be a plus
Advanced skills in Office Package (PowerPoint and Excel)
Required: Fluent in both Portuguese and English
Required: Professional Geologist designation with CREA
