Electrical Engineer

Our client, a multi-billion dollar energy company, is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join their team on a long term contract basis.

Responsibilities:

  1. Overall Contribution:

    • Contribute throughout preFEED, FEED, and EPSCC phases for electrical design.
    • Focus on HV grid connection, high-power converters, overall unit electrical processes, and utilities integration.
  2. Role Overview:

    • Reports to the Engineering Lead and collaborates with project team members and OneTech Technical Lines specialists.
    • Acts as the focal point, consolidating timelines, reporting, and priorities.
    • Represents TL E&R/Industrial Electricity to the project, contractors, and vendors.
    • Ensures coherence of the entire study and interface data, emphasizing electrical equipment supply chain.
  3. Purpose and Missions:

    • Consolidate electrical design in coordination with project lead and partners.
    • Ensure consistency of electrical activities scope with project objectives.
    • Coordinate design efforts by various contractors and disciplines to meet pre-FEED goals.
    • Manage technical interface with Transmission System Operator and project planning critical path.
    • Ensure quality deliverables from pre-FEED contractor.
    • Participate in Call for Tender and FEED contract clarification phases for electrical matters.
    • Follow detailed studies during competitive FEED Engineering and EPSCC phases.
  4. Main Challenges:

    • Maintain a single design basis and rules for a unique water electrolysis plant.
    • Secure design rules to align with electrical equipment supply chain and grid connection challenges.
    • Ensure compliance with local Grid code, Design rules, and company operating principles.
    • Attain electrical design maturity in preFEED studies to meet plant performance objectives.
    • Define precise electrical design rules for an effective competitive FEED call for tender.
  5. Professional Experience Needed:

    • Minimum 15 years in Electrical Intensive power electronic conversion design and operations.
    • Master’s Degree in Engineering.
    • Experience in commissioning and operations preferred.
    • Familiarity with US standards and equipment is mandatory.
    • Knowledge/experience with IEC standards is a plus, as is experience in Energy and Oil & Gas project extensions.
  6. Skills and Abilities:

    • Expertise in Electrical High Power conversion.
    • Autonomy and adaptability.
    • Ability to represent the company in discussions/negotiations with contractors.
    • Proficient in reporting and measuring overall project impacts of key electrical concerns.
    • Fluent in English.
  7. Additional Notes:

    • Accountable for electrical safety requirements per US regulations.
    • Knowledge of both IEC and UL/ANSI design rules appreciated.
    • Support and supervise electrical studies conducted by contractors and vendors.
