Our client, a major Engineering company, is looking for a Principal Protection and Controls Engineer to work on an initial 12-month contract. This is a remote role; however, local candidates are preferred. If the candidate is local (within a 1-hour radius of Reading, PA, they will be asked to come in on a hybrid schedule of 2 times per week) If located in the California time zone, the candidate must be willing to work on the time zone schedule of Reading, PA Interested in candidates who are open to contract to hire role and interested in staying and growing with the company.
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Technical execution of complex protection and control project assignments applied to both brownfield and greenfield projects for various clients.
  • Preparation of engineering drawings and documents, calculations, and other miscellaneous deliverables.
  • Supervise/coordinate other engineers of equal and lesser experience to successfully deliver a project.
  • Discuss technical problems and communicate effectively with other project personnel and outside Customers.
  • Perform independent audits and reviews of technical work.
  • Perform proposal preparation, and proposal estimates, and provide input to scope documents and client presentations.
  • Perform the function of a team leader who is capable of solving complex issues and act as a lead engineer responsible for the quality of the deliverables.
  • Ability to travel to job sites to perform site walk down.
  • Responsible for the quality assurance of the documents to the applicable drawing standards and responsible for the proper document management procedures followed.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • At least 5 years of experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) in the United States.
  • Experience in protection and control engineering for switchyards and substations including supervisory experience (up to and including 500kV voltage class stations).
  • Experience working in a project leadership role.
  • Experience in estimating project costs and writing proposal content.
