The Company/Project

Our client is a prominent EPCM player in the mining sector, involved in a significant development feasibility study for a sized mining operator. This $10 million project focuses on comprehensive infrastructure development including haul roads, power, and communications infrastructure. The team is dynamic and forward-thinking, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.

  • Scope: Development of Haul Roads (including HME overpass and land bridge), LV Roads, in-pit NPI infrastructure, water supply, 33kV power, and communications infrastructure.

The Role

Job Title: Electrical Engineer (HV Transmission) 

Location: Perth, WA

This role is a crucial part of the project, specifically focusing on the transmission of high voltage (33kV) power from the site to the in-pit facility. This includes both overhead and buried power lines and subsequent distribution to in-pit NPI infrastructure. The position is a key contributor to the design and implementation phases of the project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the design and development of 33kV power lines (overhead and buried).
  • Ensure effective transmission and distribution of power to in-pit NPI infrastructure.
  • Manage vendor packages and coordinate with EPCM contractors.
  • Provide input on environmental, heritage, and construction approvals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project alignment with goals.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, with recognized Engineers Australia status.
  • Experience: Minimum of 6+ years in high-voltage power line projects.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong mining background with experience in HV projects and vendor management.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in dealing with EPCM and contractor environments.
    • Thorough understanding of environmental and heritage approvals.
    • Strong communication and project management skills.
  • Work Authorization: Only candidates with the right to work in Australia will be considered (Australian Citizen, PR holder, or valid Australian working VISA).
