Key Responsibilities and background:

Dutch speaking Senior Environment Engineer to join our global EPC's Antwerp office in Belgium, for a 12 month contract position. 

  • Safety Engineering Management/ Regulatory Compliance/ Technical Safety/ Environmental Engineering/ Loss Prevention/ Human Factor Engineering/ Sustainability/ Noise
  • Leadership skills in Safety Engineering with the ability to handle complex multi-site projects
  • Takes responsibility for project success and provides strong leadership to the team
  • You are an expert in risk analysis: HAZOP-LOPA, HAZID, What-IF, FMEA, SIL
  • You are a key member with duties in project/retrospective HAZOPs and accompanying pre-meetings to emphasize the importance of process safety
  • You are an expert in the MOC process and strive to systematically improve it
  • You monitor process safety systems/KPIs and report them to management, adjusting where necessary
  • You are a true ambassador for process safety and provide training in that capacity
  • You lead or participate in safety studies (possibly Fact Tree, Tripod, HOP technology, Bowtie)
  • Plan and manage work and manage the financial aspects of the discipline, including man-hour estimates and margin objectives. Ensures effective change management
  • Understands the business case of the project and reflects it in the work environment such as productivity, planning, work hour management, innovation etc. Is involved in the development and implementation of activities such as the latest technology and methods to improve the efficiency, accuracy, and productivity of the department.
  • Takes personal responsibility for safety and a healthy environment on projects and sets a good example.

Critical Skills & Personal Attributes Essential:
  • Master's or bachelor's degree or equivalent in Chemical Engineering or in another relevant engineering discipline from an internationally recognized university;
  • Experience with safety-related work in the (petro-)chemical industry in energy transition.
  • Experience with Safety Engineering work for projects
  • Able to work independently
  • Hold a driver's license
  • Familiar with Belgian, European, and international regulations regarding Safety Engineering and particularly Regulatory Compliance.
  • Fluent in Dutch (for communication with Belgian authorities), as well as fluent in English is required.
  • Can work efficiently in a team with project management and other disciplines, both within the organization and that of the client.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills
