Become a valuable member of the Airswift team working on an initial 12-month contract with one of our tier 1 EPCM mining clients as a Senior Mechanical Engineer. As a key member of our client’s engineering team based in the Perth CBD, your initial focus will be on the development of a major Greenfields iron ore mining project.
This presents an excellent chance for you to take the lead, mentor a team, and advance your career. Your extensive experience in delivering engineering design and providing technical support to iron ore projects specifically focused in materials handling will be a solid foundation for success in this role.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out mechanical engineering services, adhering to client, customer, and regulatory requirements.
  • Take charge of mechanical engineering project requirements, from initiation to management and potential supervision.
  • Contribute to meetings, prepare of progress reports ensuring adherence to checking procedures.
  • Clarify project scope and ensure changes align with project change management processes.
  • Provide crucial support and advice during procurement, construction, and commissioning activities, such as writing requisitions, conducting technical bid evaluations, and preparing purchase orders.
  • Assume the role of mechanical engineering Lead on specific projects if required.
  • If overseeing a team, outline project requirements, promote workshare when applicable, assign tasks, supervise progress, and ensure services meet client and regulatory requirements within budget.
  • Proactively address discrepancies between our client and its customer's requirements.
  • Stay abreast of the latest developments and technical innovations in mechanical engineering.
  • Assist and support junior personnel within the mechanical engineering team if needed.
  • Foster effective communication with the mechanical engineering team and project stakeholders, including the Customer.
  • Identify and resolve issues, develop solutions, and seek assistance when necessary.

Skills/Experience
  • An Australian recognised Bachelor qualification in mechanical engineering.
  • Membership with Engineers Australia.
  • Significant prior experience in a similar role within the mining industry – Ideally with exposure to iron ore.
  • A sound knowledge of the fundamental requirements of mechanical engineering, and the basic requirements of other engineering fields.
  • A sound knowledge of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Competent use of mechanical engineering specific software.
  • Competent use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite.
