Become a valuable member of the Airswift team working on an initial 12-month contract with one of our tier 1 EPCM mining clients as a Senior Mechanical Engineer. As a key member of our client’s engineering team based in the Perth CBD, your initial focus will be on the development of a major Greenfields iron ore mining project.
This presents an excellent chance for you to take the lead, mentor a team, and advance your career. Your extensive experience in delivering engineering design and providing technical support to iron ore projects specifically focused in materials handling will be a solid foundation for success in this role.

Responsibilities

Carry out mechanical engineering services, adhering to client, customer, and regulatory requirements.
Take charge of mechanical engineering project requirements, from initiation to management and potential supervision.
Contribute to meetings, prepare of progress reports ensuring adherence to checking procedures.
Clarify project scope and ensure changes align with project change management processes.
Provide crucial support and advice during procurement, construction, and commissioning activities, such as writing requisitions, conducting technical bid evaluations, and preparing purchase orders.
Assume the role of mechanical engineering Lead on specific projects if required.
If overseeing a team, outline project requirements, promote workshare when applicable, assign tasks, supervise progress, and ensure services meet client and regulatory requirements within budget.
Proactively address discrepancies between our client and its customer's requirements.
Stay abreast of the latest developments and technical innovations in mechanical engineering.
Assist and support junior personnel within the mechanical engineering team if needed.
Foster effective communication with the mechanical engineering team and project stakeholders, including the Customer.
Identify and resolve issues, develop solutions, and seek assistance when necessary.

Skills/Experience

An Australian recognised Bachelor qualification in mechanical engineering.
Membership with Engineers Australia.
Significant prior experience in a similar role within the mining industry – Ideally with exposure to iron ore.
A sound knowledge of the fundamental requirements of mechanical engineering, and the basic requirements of other engineering fields.
A sound knowledge of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory requirements.
Competent use of mechanical engineering specific software.
Competent use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite.

About you

Degree qualification in Civil Engineering (chartered membership status – Engineers Australia).
Consulting engineering experience – at a Senior level.
A good understanding of design stages (OoM, PFS, FS, Execution).
Well-developed interpersonal skills to influence, negotiate & build productive relationships.
A keen eye for detail, good time management and a knack for problem-solving.

Airswift is on a task to find a Lead Electrical Designer to work on a long term contract with a client of ours within the industrial gases segment, in Houston, TX.

Contractors will be hired on as W2 and will be eligible to our benefits package. They will work under the direction of a Design Team Leader and will be a part of a small team, who will interface with counterparts in other engineering and design centers located in India, England, and China.

Contract extensions are possible depending on performance year on year.

Responsibilities

Preparing 3D CAD design models using Smart 3D (S3D) software tool and creating 2D drawings in Microstation and SmartSketch for construction packages.
Types of Electrical design models and drawings will include a variety of drawing types, including but not limited to single line development, Medium and Low voltage cable sizing and schedules, medium and low voltage electrical control schematic, wiring interconnections, junction and control box design, heat trace systems design and layout, etc
Responsible for creating S3D models of cable tray layouts, underground conduit layouts, grounding/earthing layouts, lighting layouts, junction box and control station locations, etc.
In addition to using S3D, the individual will learn how to obtain relevant information, review vendor & equipment drawings, understand design criteria, and read project documents
Create S3D models for cable tray layouts, underground conduit systems, grounding systems, lighting layouts, junction box locations, electrical building layouts, and receptacle/control station layouts
Complete detailed design drawings for electrical distribution and control systems
Create Electrical drawings for site construction activities
Review vendor submittals and equipment reference drawings
Check drawings for accuracy and format
Interface with other Design teams Civil/Structural, Piping, Stress Analysis, Mechanical & Machinery, etc

Qualifications

Technical school education with CAD or associate degree in Drafting
Minimum 2-5 years of CAD experience in modeling & creating design drawings using software tools such as AutoCAD, S3D, Frameworks, MicroStation, Solidworks, or other 3D software
Experience with Smart 3D and SmartSketch is required
Willingness to learn new CAD software tools
Willingness to learn electrical distribution and control concepts
Create and populate 2D drawings from 3D models with guidance from discipline leads
Attention to detail and ability to work independently over time
Working knowledge of Microsoft office software, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word

Airswift has been tasked by one of our major oil & gas clients to seek a Project Engineer to work within their facilities located in Deer Park, TX for a long-term contract.

Within this position, you will be responsible for developing and executing small capital projects to deliver timely, economical, and safe completion. Projects are primarily maintenance replacements. In-house and external design/engineering support is available as needed.

Daily responsibilities:

Act as the liaison with operations;
Develop and manage project scopes and schedules;
Estimate and control costs;
Determine applicable client and regulatory policies and procedures and assure project compliance;
Define and coordinate the work of engineering disciplines, both in-house and contract;
Review and approve drawings including flow sheets, isos, layouts, etc. and vendor submittals;
Prepare procedures, specifications, and bid packages;
Specify, requisitions, and expedite materials and equipment;
Coordinate construction and turn-over to operations; and
Communicate the design and technical issues to technical and non-technical functions through reports, memos, design documents, and presentations in a manner that is concise, factual and effective. Trains, directs, and reviews the work of lower level technical staff.
Recommend action to improve the quality of the engineering function and working on new engineering methods.

Previous education and experience required:

Graduate engineer with 5+ years or more of project engineering experience.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in chemical or petrochemical plant
Responsible for assuring that capital, operating and engineering costs are optimized, that all work is completed as scheduled and meets all environmental, health, safety, legal and code requirements.
Must be capable of handling multiple assignments with project ranging in size from $50K to $6MM.
