Our client, a major EPCM company within the Mining Industry, is looking for a Senior Structural Designer to work on a 12-month contract in Perth, WA.
This position will work on a project portfolio that provides exposure to a variety of design scenarios including grain handling facility upgrades, rock breaker upgrades, and NPI Infrastructure (MEM Workshops, AN Facilities, HV/LV wash areas, Laboratories).
Main Responsibilities:

  • Utilize advanced knowledge and experience in structural design to develop innovative and efficient solutions for various projects.
  • Generate detailed and accurate drawings, blueprints, and specifications using CAD software, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Architects, and other stakeholders to integrate structural designs seamlessly into overall project plans.
  • Ensure structural designs comply with relevant codes, regulations, and standards, including building codes, safety regulations, and environmental requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior designers and drafters, reviewing their work to maintain quality and accuracy.
  • Managing your own time to ensure project deliverables are met.
  • Identifying and reporting on any potential deviations from the agreed scope of work.
Main requirements:
  • Demonstrated mastery of MicroStation software, with the ability to efficiently navigate and utilize its features for design tasks.
  • Minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in design, showcasing a deep understanding of design principles and methodologies.
  • Proven track record of successful structural design involvement within the context of mining projects, illustrating familiarity with industry-specific requirements and challenges.
  • Current right to work in Australia with no restrictions.

Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Prior experience in sustaining capital projects is preferred, indicating familiarity with the unique considerations and priorities associated with ongoing asset maintenance and improvement initiatives.
