QC Inspector - Structural – Job Description

We are working with a Major Maritime operator in Qatar to source a QC Inspector - Structural. As a Quality Control (QC) Inspector - Structural for the SPM Buoy construction project, your primary role will be to ensure the quality and compliance of structural components and systems specific to the buoy construction. You will play a crucial part in conducting inspections, tests, and audits to identify deviations from quality standards, implementing corrective actions, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement. Your expertise will be instrumental in maintaining quality assurance processes and ensuring that the structural elements of the SPM Buoy meet project specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations.

Title: QC Inspector - Structural
Start Date: Negotiable (typically within 1 month notice)
 Duration: 11 Months.
Location: Doha - Shipyard - 6 Days
 

Minimum Qualification/Experiences/Skills required:

  • Education & Professional Qualification: A bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field (e.g., Mechanical, Civil, or Marine Engineering) is preferred., or a related field is preferred.
  • Professional Experience: Previous experience in design engineering or drafting for Projects or similar offshore structures is advantageous.
  • Market Knowledge:
    • Strong technical drawing skills, with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Knowledge of drafting techniques, standards, and best practices relevant to Project design.
    • Understanding of design principles and engineering concepts specific to Projects.
    • Familiarity with naval architecture and marine engineering principles, particularly related to Project design, is preferred.
  • Geographic Experience: GCC Market is Preferable
  • Communications & Presentation Skills:
    • Ability to interpret and translate design concepts into comprehensive and precise drawings for Projects.
    • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams involved in Project projects.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines in the context of Project design.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to propose innovative solutions specific to Project design challenges.
  • Computer Skills: Microsoft Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar tools.






 

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

 

Quality Control Inspections and Testing:
  • Perform inspections and tests on structural components of the SPM Buoy, such as pontoons, mooring systems, and support structures, to assess their conformity with project specifications, engineering drawings, and quality standards.
  • Utilize appropriate inspection techniques, measurement tools, and non-destructive testing methods to evaluate the integrity, dimensions, and workmanship of the structural elements.
  • Identify and document non-conformities, defects, and deviations from quality standards, ensuring accurate and comprehensive records throughout the buoy construction project.

Quality Control Audits and Documentation:
  • Conduct internal audits to assess compliance with quality management systems, construction procedures, and regulatory requirements specific to the SPM Buoy construction project.
  • Review and analyze quality control documentation, including inspection reports, test records, and audit findings, ensuring adherence to recordkeeping and documentation standards.
  • Maintain up-to-date and comprehensive quality control documentation specific to structural inspections of the SPM Buoy.

Corrective and Preventive Actions:
  • Investigate and analyze quality issues, non-conformities, and safety concerns related to the structural components of the SPM Buoy, identifying root causes and implementing appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, construction crews, and subcontractors, to address quality concerns promptly and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor and track the effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions, ensuring timely resolution and prevention of recurring quality issues in the structural elements of the SPM Buoy.

Quality Assurance Processes:
  • Support the development and implementation of quality assurance processes and procedures specific to structural inspections of the SPM Buoy construction project, ensuring compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in the review and approval of construction procedures, work instructions, and quality control plans related to the structural components of the SPM Buoy.
  • Contribute to the identification and implementation of process improvements and best practices to enhance the overall quality and safety of the structural work on the SPM Buoy.

Compliance and Safety Regulations:
  • Stay updated with relevant industry regulations, codes, standards, and safety guidelines applicable to structural construction projects, particularly those specific to offshore structures like the SPM Buoy.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and safety standards in the inspection and testing of structural components of the SPM Buoy.
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to address quality and safety-related compliance issues promptly and assist in regulatory inspections or audits related to the construction of the SPM Buoy when required.

Data Analysis and Reporting:
  • Collect and analyze quality-related data, including inspection results, test data, and quality metrics specific to structural inspections of the SPM Buoy.
  • Prepare timely and accurate quality reports, highlighting key findings, trends, and areas for improvement related to the structural work on the SPM Buoy.
  • Communicate quality-related information to stakeholders, project management, and relevant departments to drive decision-making, continuous improvement efforts, and ensure the successful completion of the SPM Buoy construction project.
