Workforce Transition

Background

Our client needed to take steps to reduce costs involved in the management of their existing contractor workforce due to the continued decline of the oil and gas market globally.

Challenge

The company required the transfer of 100 contractors spread across seven different agencies after discovering a lack of uniform commercials across agency suppliers and an inconsistent on-boarding and management process for its contractor workforce. It wanted to ensure any transfers would not affect contractor productivity and provide cost savings, transparencies and efficiencies.

Airswift Solution

Airswift provided a dedicated consolidation team to facilitate a workforce transition and implemented a robust process, which included face-to-face on-boarding sessions with all contractor transferees, to ensure workers were on-boarded in a timely manner without disruption to the client and contractor productivity.

Airswift offered the company a total proposed cost savings of around £450,000, equating to over 50 per cent of their previous cost. Airswift’s onboarding team, based in the client's offices in the United Kingdom, held one-on-one meetings with 85 personnel within a two-week period.

Results

There have been over 130 transferees to date with no lapses in support for any of the transferring contractors, and Airswift manages all new personnel joining the company who required payrolling and management.

In December 2017, Airswift secured a further transfer of 103 contractors as a result of our client's acquisition of the Sullom Voe Terminal in the Shetland Isles.
