Brunei is a sovereign state on the north coast of Borneo in Southeast Asia. The country is surrounded by the Malaysian state of Sarawak and is the only sovereign state on the island of Borneo. Brunei has an estimated population of 429,000 and the most commonly spoken languages are Brunei Malay and English.
Brunei has one of the highest standards of living in the world due to the oil and gas industry accounting for half of its GDP. Business in Brunei follows a Muslim culture. Men commonly wear dark pants or slacks, long-sleeved shirts and a tie, while women wear skirts or slacks with a blouse.
