Within this position you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical systems and work to complete projects within budget and scheduling restraints. They collaborate with other engineering departments and coordinating their specialized contributions to the development of a project.

Day to day responsibilities:

  • Lead the electrical engineering design effort on projects
  • Work with engineering teams to develop electrical systems on projects
  • Estimate cost, personnel and material needs for preparing proposals and establishes completion dates for projects
  • Oversee and review electrical specifications and designs:

- Oversee and review design of drawings using Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) software

  • Guide project installation and commissioning on final load testing

Previous education and experience required:

Job Description: This position is responsible for leading and managing the design of assigned transmission line and substation projects.
  • The Project Engineering Lead works in the Engineering & Construction (E&C) Group and is responsible for transmission line and HV substation projects from conception (Early Stage) through turnover to the execution team; typically, at a 30?60% design completion level.  
  • In the conceptual phase, the Project Engineering Lead works with the Early Stage Project Manager to define and influence the project requirements and scope with the company's Transmission  Development Group.  Projects can begin as FERC 1000 competitive transmission project proposals, or as greenfield projects for NEET affiliates (Lone Star, GridLiance, NEETNY, etc.).
  • The Project Engineering Lead shall secure engineering consulting resources when required from a list of approved suppliers by developing a scope of work, securing bids, evaluating, and awarding work through NEER’s Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) Group.  
  • A critical performance requirement is the ability to direct consultant’s activities, conduct design reviews/optimize designs, develop design requirements document, define RFP deliverables, and manage all work to the prescribed deadlines.  
  • The Project Engineering Lead must coordinate with other project stakeholders to identify and develop a transmission line route, suitable substation site, support the engineering data, and permits necessary to design and develop the project, including geotechnical and lidar data. Activities include competitively sourcing, selecting and contracting geotechnical, survey, engineering, and construction services, and supporting the E&C Cost Estimating Team with scope assumptions.
  • The position is responsible for coordinating the engineering deliverables in support of NEET’s FERC Order 1000 competitive request for proposals (RFP).  Deliverables include scope of work documents, proposal technical content, RFPs for engineering services, input to presentations for management review, and vetting of technical solution against cost estimate assumptions.  
  • The position requires coordination with other groups to ensure the projects are successful.  Generally responsible for representing E&C’s internal and external interests on assigned projects, including presentations/briefing on current progress, issues, and risk mitigation in meetings with various levels of management.   
  • Employee in this role will support early stage design for assigned projects by reviewing EOR drawings and organizing design reviews, technical specifications for major equipment, bid evaluations and contract oversight,  and general problem solving. 
  • Work with Early Stage Project Manager to define RFP schedule and deliverables, as well as the schedule for engineering activities and associated logic for the execution phase of the project.
  • Ensures schedules for technical deliverables, both proposal and execution, are consistent with lead times from consultants for engineering packages and material suppliers for major equipment.
  • Coordinates with project execution team members to validate technical solution and incorporate construction input; seeks input from execution team SMEs as conceptual design is developed.
  • Prepares engineering turnover documentation and holds meeting to transfer project materials and knowledge to execution team; continues to support execution team during transition period.  
   
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil/Structural Engineering. 
  • Minimum of 7 years of direct experience in the development, design, engineering, and construction of high voltage transmission line and substation projects.  
  • The ideal candidate must have a strong technical knowledge of both transmission and substation design, excellent communication and project management skills, a bias for action, proven analytical and problem?solving skills, and an ability to provide value engineering and ensure design quality.  
  • The position requires technical competence such as the ability to understand one line and three?line diagrams, general arrangements, plan and profiles, efficient design principles (i.e., as?installed cost factors), and other common deliverables/concepts.
  • Supporting FERC Order 1000 RFPs will require candidate to demonstrate adaptability to a dynamic environment with projects often characterized by rapidly evolving technical solutions, changing priorities, and tight deadlines.
  • Travel may be required within North America; 5?10%.

Preferred
  • Project Engineering and/or Project Management experience with a strong bias for action. 
  • PMP and/or P.E. in related discipline is a plus.
  • Proficiency with standard industry tools such as PLSCADD, Auto?CAD, Primavera and other software is strongly desired.

Primary Job Responsibilities:
The role of Piping Lead Engineer is a key Leadership role, being responsible for the day-to-day supervision and coordination of Piping Engineering and Design team assigned to a project. Part of this role would be global integrated delivery coordination.
The Lead Piping Engineer reports functionally to the Department Manager and operationally to one or more Project Managers. Input and leadership will be delivered in:
  • the conceptual design
  • project specifications
  • FEED, basic engineering
  • extended basic and detailed design phases.
We expect candidates will have had a strong technical background in an engineering contracting environment. The understanding of the technical requirements of the project and directing others to apply this into the project is crucial.


Key Responsibilities/Skills:
  • Should be able to manage projects as Lead Engineer and be responsible for the proper and timely execution of projects ensuring the Department quality management system and any project specific contractual requirements are met
  • Must have thorough knowledge in piping layout, pipe routing, and basic knowledge of support design, stress analysis, MTO control, material requisitions, bid evaluation and 3D design model reviews.
  • Provide leadership skills in Piping Engineering with ability to handle mid-sized teams in a multi-office environment
  • Responsible for issue of all piping deliverable documents.
  • Organize inputs and supervise for preparation general layout, equipment layout, key plans, support design, isometrics, material take offs, stress analysis, pipe material specifications and material requisitions.
  • Ensures effective communications among other engineering disciplines, project management and Client teams.
  • Defines the discipline scope of work and the required resources and develops input for the Piping Execution Plan.
  • Participates in daily scrum meetings, project status meetings and is responsible for correct reporting of amongst other project status, progress, delays, change notices, performance measurement, lessons learned and close-out
  • Takes responsibility for cost, schedule, material quantity and budget control.
  • Ensures effective management of change.
  • Takes personal responsibility for safety and a healthy environment on the projects, and demonstrating this by example
  • Able to contribute to development and growth of people (e.g., coach junior engineers).

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree, or Bachelor level achieved by experience, in Mechanical Engineering and approximately minimum 15 years of experience in the area of design and field engineering, construction management, start up and commissioning of plants.
  • The candidate must be a driven professional with strong commercial & business acumen, solid understanding of Project Controls (planning, scheduling, man-hour estimates and measuring physical progress) and has the potential to lead & inspire teams
  • Has already been responsible for small to mid-sized teams

Job Purpose
Responsible for Piping and Layout engineering for NFPS Compression COMP2 Project
Reports to: Head of Mechanical & Package COMP2


Job Context & Major Challenge(s):
  • Provides visible safety leadership through active participation in the NFPS Compression COMP2 Project Safety Program
  • Reviews the detailed design deliverables developed by the Contractor and verify compliance with Company standards and Company objectives. Understand and communicate the requirements of Company to Contractor
  • Efficiently translate Company requirements and data into an efficient delivery from the Contractor and verify compliance with Company requirements, standards, specifications and instructions
  • Manage the Contractor in the safe delivery of the detailed design scope of piping & layout components

Key Job Accountabilities:
  • Responsible to ensure Contractor deliver a complete Piping & Layout engineering deliverables during EPC execution
  • Review and comments on third party study reports to clarify / define impact on analysis activities (Including third party reports on FIV, AIV, Blast analysis)
  • Review and Endorse Stress Analysis Specifications, Critical Line List selection criteria and any other formal related stress analysis execution notes / procedure.
  • Well versed in CAESAR II static / dynamic modules.
  • Manage EPC Contractor’s Piping and Layout disciplines resources and to ensure work completion on time
  • Responsible to check, review and appraise all piping & layout technical documents (specifications, calculation notes, drawings, etc.) developed by Contractor are in compliance with project scopes and requirements and identify potential risks to project if any.
  • Responsible for all model reviews conducted during EPC including monitors and reports actual progress including S3D model development to ensure Contractor completion of key milestones
  • Identify capital efficiency opportunities as far as possible
  • Participate in various project’s workshop such as Hazardous Operations (HAZOP or HAZID etc) reviews
  • Works in a highly visible project environment with large capital expenditures and significant schedule execution pressures
  • Works in a dynamic environment that has high expectations for flawless project execution in safety, quality, cost and schedule performance which requires the incumbent to demonstrate accuracy initiative and the ability to multi-task as essential skills
  • Well established awareness of policies and procedures with high expectations for business controls compliance and to further develop controls to meet changing needs


Minimum Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

Knowledge and/or Experience
  • 15+ years of experience in piping & layout discipline with at least five years demonstrated lead engineering experience in major capital projects and MUST have at least executed one detailed design of an Offshore Compression Project 
  • Experience with EPC contractors, sub-contractors and vendors involved in the oil and gas industry
  • Demonstrated ability and sensitivity to work with people from a  variety of cultural backgrounds
  • Knowledgeable in International Codes & Standards

Technical and Business Skills:
A high level of proficiency in written and spoken English
Computer literacy involving the regular use of professional office applications and some technical applications

Main Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

This will include setting up the hardware and software in conjunction with Barracuda, transferring the current \models from Barracuda to the in-house system, running and analyzing the models, working with Barracuda to validate the models with new operating data from pilot and commercial plants. 
• Generate new CPFD models to test and continuously improve the Core technology.
• Generate Excel based models to support other departments 

Commercial / Pilot Plant Support:
• Support commercial, pilot plant and bench scale unit efforts through on-site supervision of activities 
which include the following:
• Process/Equipment design and documentation
