One of our clients, a major oil and gas company, has tasked us with seeking a Systems Technician for their Norman Wells site.
Position: Systems Technician
Location: Norman Wells, with FIFO from Edmonton; 14 days on/off rotation with camp provided.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prioritize safety and proactively address safety concerns by implementing effective solutions.
- Administer and ensure compliance with Industrial Control System Requirements (ICSR).
- Lead and manage Alarm Management Meetings, ensuring follow-up and resolution of action items.
- Actively participate in daily team safety meetings.
- Initiate and drive innovative ideas to enhance efficiency and productivity.
- Communicate effectively and support cross-functional teams, including Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance.
- Take ownership of work products and adapt to a dynamic, fast-paced environment, meeting deadlines.
- Oversee the site’s radio system hardware for reliable operation, including managing radio licenses and liaising with contract radio specialists.
- Provide support for onsite EMIT initiatives, including troubleshooting hardware, configuring training laptops, and addressing cybersecurity needs.
- Attend monthly IT meetings and manage Management of Change (MOC) implementation and sign-offs.
- Assist with various tasks related to control systems, including systems networking and radio communication duties.
- Update redline drawings related to systems or project work.
- Close out line items in SAP and assist with job scoping and planning.
- Maintain spare parts inventory and support other trades, including Instrumentation and Electrical, as qualified.
- Provide remote backup coverage for Cold Lake Systems on weekends or during vacations to ensure timely production accounting data retrieval.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Proficiency in Industrial Control System Requirements (ICSR), Alarm Management, and business practices related to control systems.
- Experience in contractor supervision, cross-functional team engagement, and stewardship processes, including KPI development.
- Familiarity with systems networking, SAP, and radio system management.
- Qualification to support other trades and assist with various operational tasks as needed.
