Join a pioneering project in the energy sector as the Area 2 Tanks Manager, where you will play a crucial role in overseeing the construction of state-of-the-art LNG facilities in Mozambique. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a dedicated team and ensure the safe and efficient delivery of onshore facilities for a multi-billion dollar project.

Role Overview

  • Inspire safety commitment in Client and EPC Contractor teams through deep knowledge of HSE and leadership by example.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant HSE requirements across the works to promote a healthy and safe work environment.
  • Support Project Manager in overall Afungi site management and be a member of the site Emergency Management Team.
  • Ensure that the team meets necessary performance standards and corporate requirements.
  • Develop a team spirit, foster teamwork, and build trust within the team while encouraging personal and professional development.
  • Immediately report or cascade down any incidents in his area.
  • Coordinate and monitor all construction activities in his area, ensuring adherence to project requirements and construction procedures.
  • Develop strong working relationships with EPC Contractor for routine management and critical issue resolution.
  • Facilitate the development of execution plans, method statements, and other relevant procedures.
  • Ensure physical presence at Site to demonstrate safety commitment and quality oversight.
  • Review construction progress from EPC Contractor, provide inputs to internal reporting systems, and identify risks to the schedule.
  • Analyze current situations and known issues; identify potential risks using technical knowledge and experience.
  • Prepare and monitor the physical execution of Precommissioning and transition to Commissioning.
  • Contribute to project peer assists, peer reviews, and technical assurance reviews.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of the EPC Contractor’s construction management processes.
  • Lead or attend all necessary construction planning meetings.

  • Strong HSE culture and safety leadership.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence critical decisions.
  • Deep knowledge of HSE regulations and practices.
  • Ability to develop execution plans and method statements.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify risks and propose solutions.
  • Ability to foster teamwork and build trust within a diverse team.

Education & Experience

  • Degree in Engineering or another relevant subject required; advanced degree or professional qualifications preferred.
  • 15 years’ experience, with at least 5 years at a management level.
  • Minimum 5 years on large greenfield projects, preferably in LNG liquefaction, GTL, petrochemical, refinery, or gas processing/feedstock plants.
