Summary
Business Manager shall provide direct support to clients fleet and customer representatives at Ministry of Electricity and other stakeholders across different ministries of the Government of Iraq (e.g. Electricity, Oil, Transport, Supreme Marine Council, General Ports Company, South Gas Company, Oil Pipeline Company, etc.), contractors/vendors, stakeholders (e.g. Port Authority, Regulators, Municipalities and Departments etc.) and other potential customers as clients presence in the country establishes and grows. As a pioneer, the role will be focused on developing, elevating and managing a collaborative in country team, while ensuring seamless integration and coordination with the wider team based in other regional offices in Dubai, and Houston. Ownership and management of commercial operations, business performance, project management and compliance while protecting people, the environment, property and reputation.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
o Actively participate in the development of EE strategy for Iraq, operating philosophy and organization with particular focus on the operational and administrative aspects of business in Iraq.
o Support EE in the development of market knowledge to ensure that EE is working with the right contractors and to identify new business opportunities considering EE's commercial strategy, priorities and products.
• Relationship Management o Establish, strengthen and maintain strong and positive relationships with clients, Government and other stakeholders [including but not limited to Ministry of Electricity, and its departments and affiliates, Ministry of Transport and its affiliates, Ministry of Oil and its subsidiaries and relevant affiliates, Port Authority, relevant departments, agencies etc.) o Establish and maintain relationships with contractors, vendors and other stakeholders (e.g. SKA, OPC, SCOP, etc, EPC and other contractors etc.) o Represent client to attend various government officials and US embassy if required. o Work with leadership on establishing a strong in-country presence for client.
• Project Management and Support o Ensure smooth project planning, management and implementation of Iraq LNG terminal project and its timely commissioning. o Provide leadership, oversight and support for arranging and facilitating all the required support to project team and contractors, including but not limited to permitting, coordination with authorities and advocacy. o Own and implement the project development strategy and plan, providing regular updates, advise and steering to the project team and feedback to the project sponsors and senior stakeholders.
Represent client Iraq in key public events such as signing ceremonies, conferences, CSR initiatives, etc. and be “the face and voice “of clients presence in the Iraqi market.
Education and/or Experience:
• Must have a Degree from accredited university.
• Must have at least 5-8years of track record as a Business Manager for multinational energy companies.
• Must have experience with governmental administration and entities. Knowledge of International and regional legislation and standards for maritime safety and commerce.
• Preferably with knowledge of shipping and marine terminal operations in the region
Language Skills: • Bilingual in English and Arabic business terms. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, government bodies and the general public.
