Join our dynamic team as a Civil Inspector, where you will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of quality control in civil and structural construction. This full-time contract position offers you the opportunity to work on an exciting project site in Padeswood, United Kingdom, contributing to the success of a major construction initiative.
Role Overview
- Conduct independent quality inspections and surveillance of civil and structural works in accordance with approved Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and construction programmes.
- Provide proactive routine site surveillance during active construction to identify quality issues early, ensuring compliance with project standards and preventing costly rework.
- Perform reactive inspections in response to contractor Notifications of Inspection (NOI) / Requests for Inspection (RFIs).
- Verify that works are executed in compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and applicable standards.
- Participate in pre-construction inspections to confirm readiness of works, including verification of materials, equipment, permits, and approved documentation.
- Ensure compliance with applicable UK standards and project requirements including BS EN standards, Design Codes, CDM Regulations, and relevant industry guidance.
- Verify correct implementation of testing regimes including compaction testing, concrete testing, slump tests, concrete cube testing, pile integrity testing, and structural inspections.
- Accurately record inspection results, surveillance findings, and test outcomes in project quality records.
- Review and verify contractor quality documentation including test results, material certificates, delivery records, and as-built information relevant to civils and structures.
- Identify and report non-conforming works through the project NCR process and support investigation implementation of corrective actions.
Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Civils, structural and architecture QC Inspector on EPC or EPCm construction projects within the UK or equivalent regulations.
- Strong practical knowledge of civil structural and architecture construction practices and inspection techniques.
- Good working knowledge of relevant UK standards and specifications including BS EN standards, Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) specifications, Eurocodes, CDM Regulations.
- Experience inspecting earthworks, foundations, piling, drainage, and structural steel erection.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
- Understanding of quality inspection processes and the importance of maintaining independence from construction teams.
- Willingness to maintain a regular site presence during active construction phases.
Education & Experience
- Relevant technical qualification (HNC/HND or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or Construction is desirable.
- Level 2/3 Certificates/Diplomas in Civil Quality Control & Assurance (QC/QA) are advantageous.
- Experience with materials testing, concrete technology and testing, or geotechnical inspections is preferred.
