This full-time contract position offers you the opportunity to work on an exciting project site in Padeswood, United Kingdom, contributing to the success of a major construction initiative.

Role Overview

  • Conduct independent quality inspections and surveillance of civil and structural works in accordance with approved Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and construction programmes.
  • Provide proactive routine site surveillance during active construction to identify quality issues early, ensuring compliance with project standards and preventing costly rework.
  • Perform reactive inspections in response to contractor Notifications of Inspection (NOI) / Requests for Inspection (RFIs).
  • Verify that works are executed in compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and applicable standards.
  • Participate in pre-construction inspections to confirm readiness of works, including verification of materials, equipment, permits, and approved documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable UK standards and project requirements including BS EN standards, Design Codes, CDM Regulations, and relevant industry guidance.
  • Verify correct implementation of testing regimes including compaction testing, concrete testing, slump tests, concrete cube testing, pile integrity testing, and structural inspections.
  • Accurately record inspection results, surveillance findings, and test outcomes in project quality records.
  • Review and verify contractor quality documentation including test results, material certificates, delivery records, and as-built information relevant to civils and structures.
  • Identify and report non-conforming works through the project NCR process and support investigation implementation of corrective actions.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Civils, structural and architecture QC Inspector on EPC or EPCm construction projects within the UK or equivalent regulations.
  • Strong practical knowledge of civil structural and architecture construction practices and inspection techniques.
  • Good working knowledge of relevant UK standards and specifications including BS EN standards, Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) specifications, Eurocodes, CDM Regulations.
  • Experience inspecting earthworks, foundations, piling, drainage, and structural steel erection.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Understanding of quality inspection processes and the importance of maintaining independence from construction teams.
  • Willingness to maintain a regular site presence during active construction phases.

Education & Experience

  • Relevant technical qualification (HNC/HND or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or Construction is desirable.
  • Level 2/3 Certificates/Diplomas in Civil Quality Control & Assurance (QC/QA) are advantageous.
  • Experience with materials testing, concrete technology and testing, or geotechnical inspections is preferred.
