Commissioning Engineer
Join our dynamic team as a Commissioning Engineer and play a pivotal role in the commissioning and start-up activities of a major FPSO project in the Oil & Gas industry. This exciting opportunity offers a blend of office-based planning in the Netherlands and hands-on execution in Angola, ensuring your expertise makes a significant impact on offshore production operations.
Role Overview
Develop, review, and finalize commissioning procedures, work packages, system handover dossiers, and associated documentation.
Support system definition, sequence planning, and preparation of commissioning execution plans.
Interface proactively with engineering, construction, and operations teams to ensure commissioning requirements are fully integrated during design and fabrication.
Lead or support commissioning activities for assigned mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, or process systems (depending on discipline background).
Coordinate vendor representatives and ensure technical readiness for system testing and start-up.
Oversee site execution of pre-commissioning and commissioning tasks, ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and quality expectations.
Participate in technical troubleshooting, punch list management, and system acceptance processes.
Ensure proper documentation, reporting, and progress tracking throughout all commissioning phases.
Contribute to safe execution by adhering to all HSE procedures and actively promoting a strong safety culture.
Skills & Qualifications
Extensive experience in the Oil & Gas industry, preferably within FPSO, offshore production, or large-scale energy projects.
Demonstrated hands-on experience in commissioning, start-up, and system turnover.
Strong familiarity with commissioning planning methods, system completion tools, and interface/construction management.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, cause & effect diagrams, and vendor documentation.
Solid understanding of international standards and commissioning best practices.
Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and in multicultural environments.
Willingness and ability to work on a rotational basis in Angola (8/2) during the execution phase.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Engineering—Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Process, or related field.
Prior experience on overseas or remote-site rotational assignments is advantageous.
