Commissioning Manager – Solar
The Commissioning Manager is responsible for overseeing the successful startup and validation of utility?scale solar power systems. This role includes performing performance analytics on key PV plant components—such as inverters, trackers, substations, and SCADA systems—and coordinating required testing (PPA, ISO, GIA) during project startup. The position serves as the Owner’s representative, ensuring full system compliance, managing commissioning activities, tracking progress, and supervising contractor and vendor performance on-site.
Location:
Primarily remote with occasional travel within the U.S. (up to 20%).

Senior Project Manager
Required Background
- Engineering degree or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in utility?scale solar systems
Preferred Background
- Advanced academic or professional experience in utility PV
- Familiarity with SCADA systems
- 1–3 years working with grid operators or similar entities
Required Skills
- Knowledge of utility?scale PV construction and commissioning
- Familiarity with PV modules, combiners, inverters, transformers, met stations, and substations
- Strong organizational, communication, and planning abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office / 365
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and execute required PPA, GIA, and ISO testing
- Manage test?energy forecasts and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders
- Support IT/SCADA functional checks and verification
- Develop commissioning schedules based on project progress
- Verify SCADA HMI functionality and system accuracy
- Review system performance data and identify deficiencies
- Support alarm and control system validation during startup
Physical Requirements
- Ability to distinguish color?coded controls
- Comfortable with extended computer/screen use
- Valid driver’s license for site travel
