Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Compressor Operator to support daily gas compression and transmission activities at an Oil & Gas facility in Jal, New Mexico. This role is heavily focused on the operation, installation, and maintenance of booster units, along with hands-on mechanical work on compressor equipment.

The ideal candidate has strong field experience with compressor systems, a safety-focused mindset, and the ability to work independently in a rotating schedule environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Operate compressor engines, booster units, pumps, and supporting equipment
  • Start, stop, and regulate systems by adjusting controls and valves
  • Monitor gauges, meters, and recording devices to maintain proper pressure, temperature, and gas flow
  • Perform daily operation of gas transmission equipment through pipeline systems
  • Identify abnormal operating conditions and respond to equipment issues
  • Conduct basic gas quality testing using approved chemical methods
  • Perform routine mechanical adjustments and minor equipment repairs
  • Support gas purification processes as required
  • Install, operate, and maintain booster equipment as a primary job function
  • Document operational data, inspections, and system changes in daily logs

Basic / Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Technical or vocational training in equipment operation, mechanical systems, or oil & gas production preferred
  • Minimum of 3+ years of hands-on compressor operation experience
  • Proven experience working with booster systems
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform minor repairs using hand tools
  • Ability to work extended rotational schedules in field environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional mechanical or industrial maintenance experience
  • Prior experience working in gas transmission or processing facilities
  • Familiarity with compressor troubleshooting and preventive maintenance practices

Required Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Strong understanding of compressor and booster operations
  • Ability to interpret gauges, meters, and operational data
  • Basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of safe operating practices in Oil & Gas facilities
  • Ability to maintain accurate operational records
  • Strong attention to detail and situational awareness
