We are working with a Major Oil & Gas operator to source for Construction Lead (HVAC) specialising in offshore compression. This is a long-term contract role working on a residential basis 6-days per week / 10 hours per day. Please see details below:

Title: Construction Lead (HVAC) 

Start Date: Negotiable (typically within 1 month notice)

Duration: 36 months (potential for extension)

Location: Onshore (site based), Qatar
Working Schedule: 6-days per week / 10 hours per day

Job Purpose:

  • The Construction Lead (HVAC) shall provide Hook-Up and Commissioning (HUC) oversight and direction to the project’s main contractor, subcontractors and vendors.
  • Effectively collaborates and interfaces with facilities team and EPC contractor engineers and operations personnel.
  • Provides coverage for multiple EPCs workshops, shop inspections and factory testing when and where required.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Reports to Head of Construction (CP6S Hook Up).
  • Support EPC PMT by reviewing critical documents and reports generated by the main subcontractor.
  • Attend workshops/review meetings when requested.
  • Analyse technical proposals and proposed deviations, assess exceptions and new technologies to ensure compliance with QELNG policies and procedures.
  • Apply lessons learned from previous projects and share new ones with other EPCs.
  • Support the qualification of new suppliers proposed for the project, suppliers that are not on the approved vendor’s list.
  • Assesses Contractor’s manpower loading and provide timely recommendations to project team and be available to backfill needs as required.
  • Support the engineering team to stay on schedule to meet all critical milestones (long lead item (LLI) procurement, engineered equipment procurement; required on site (ROS) dates, etc); develops and stewards recovery plans to address any schedule delays.
  • Witnesses Contractors scope of work and signs off test and check sheets as per project requirements.
  • Verify that the EPC Contractor’s reports are accurate with regards to progress reporting.
  • Cooperate with review teams and take parts in quality audit activities throughout the project. Report findings accurately and provide plan to address issues when required.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in applied sciences or engineering.

Knowledge and/or Experience:

  • 10 years experience with Large Projects in Construction related disciplines (e.g., construction, installation, fabrication, execution, completion, hook-up, etc.) in the Oil & Gas Industry, including 1 year of experience in a supervisory role, including acting roles, or oversight of service/vendor personnel.
  • In depth knowledge of discipline design standards, specifications, codes, appropriate safety criteria, offshore facilities and discipline design, construction, operations and engineering administration.
  • Knowledge and experience in discipline hook-up and commissioning delivery processes and associated project phases, familiar with completions walkdowns and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews.
  • Experience in an HVAC role for large EPC contracts, with strong HVAC commissioning/technical skills.
  • Advanced knowledge in testing and balancing (TAB) activities
  • Advanced knowledge in performance testing of fans and air handling units to ensure design specs are met.
  • Advanced knowledge of refrigeration system commissioning.
  • Experience in room integrity testing.
  • Knowledge of Fluorinated Gas (F-gas) regulations.
  • Experience with AHI Carrier & Wozair equipment
  • Experience with Oil and Gas companies, contractors, service companies, or heavy construction companies.
  • Knowledge of design standards, specifications, codes, and appropriate safety criteria related to major fabrication, transport, installation, brownfield execution, and hook-up, as applicable to the project scope.
  • Knowledge of offshore facilities and structures, onshore facilities, or yard operations as applicable to a project scope.
  • Knowledge of execution methods and risks associated with sour gas and LNG production facilities.
  • Experience working in large scale operating organizations in Operations, Projects, Subsurface, etc.

Technical and Business Skills:

  • Strong organizational, leadership, coordination, planning, interface and technical judgment skills.
  • Ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and frequent changes in priorities.
  • Able to identify and analyse complex issues and provide recommendations. Prepare contingency plans for unexpected scope changes (pro-active, forward-looking)
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to read, write, and speak fluent English, with strong teamwork facilitation, with the ability to communicate and interact at all levels of the organization.
  • Strongly Client focused with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Execute work in full compliance with Company Standards of Business Conduct and Project Management System.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of software programs, advanced computer literacy.
  • Knowledge of worldwide vendors and contractors.
