Role Overview
- Mentor and guide project disciplines and contractors on safe and efficient construction methods;
- Assess fire growth and heat transfer, providing input on emergency ventilation requirements and validating fire protection strategies;
- Identify key risks and develop management systems to mitigate project risks for stakeholders;
- Interpret and apply global safety standards and internal management systems related to fire safety;
- Support various project disciplines, including those on financed projects;
- Design and deliver targeted training programs to enhance personnel competence in construction, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities;
- Conduct fire risk assessments, hazard analysis, and fire incident investigations;
- Develop and coordinate comprehensive fire and emergency response plans for project sites;
- Lead internal fire safety audits and develop action plans for continual improvement;
- Serve as the liaison with regulatory bodies and auditors for compliance reviews and audits;
- Review, validate, and optimize fire detection and suppression systems;
- Support commissioning and periodic integrity testing of fire protection systems.
Skills & Qualifications
- Fire Protection & Prevention: Expertise in fire dynamics, CFD modeling, and risk analysis;
- Electrical Construction Methods: Knowledge of electrical construction methods and materials;
- Fire Safety Standards: Familiarity with IOGP Life-Saving Rules (LSR) and global safety standards;
- Training Development: Ability to design training programs focused on fire prevention and emergency response;
- Fire Dynamics Knowledge: Strong understanding of fire dynamics, suppression systems, and detection technologies;
- Risk Assessment Skills: Proficient in conducting fire risk assessments and hazard analysis;
- Technically Qualified Professional in International Oil and Gas operations;
- Tertiary Qualification equivalent to NEBOSH IGC or Process Safety Management;
- NFPA Fire Safety Specialist Certification or equivalent;
- Advanced Firefighting & Emergency Response Training;
- Familiarity with CFD Software/Tools like FDS, ANSYS Fluent, PyroSim.
Education
- 10 years of experience in international major project within Oil and Gas sectors;
- Minimum of 7 years working in developing countries in Oil and Gas – in a similar role;
- Technically Qualified Professional in International Oil and Gas operations;
- Tertiary Qualification equivalent to NEBOSH IGC or Process Safety Management.
