Job Title: Construction Supervisor (Mechanical)
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Construction Supervisor to oversee construction and installation activities for oil & gas projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, extensive field experience, and a solid understanding of construction best practices, safety, and quality standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related discipline from a recognized institution.
- Additional HSE certifications such as IOSH, NEBOSH, Lifting Supervisor, etc., are an added advantage.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of experience in mechanical construction and installation activities within the oil & gas industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction industry best practices, standards, systems, and processes.
Demonstrated competency in construction management including:
- Written and verbal communication
- Conflict resolution
- Managing interfaces with internal departments, external agencies, contractors, and vendors
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Construction Supervision
- Supervise site construction and installation activities related to mechanical engineering, ensuring strict compliance with project Scope of Work, Engineering Standards, and Specifications.
- Conduct inspections, checks, and testing of completed works.
- Ensure full compliance with safety requirements, preventing incidents by enforcing company HSE standards.
Technical & Planning Responsibilities
- Participate in constructability review meetings.
- Review and comment on detailed design drawings, method statements, material requisitions, and related technical documents.
- Identify and raise potential risks, issues, and bottlenecks proactively.
- Review contractors’ construction plans, schedules, method statements, and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
Coordination & Execution
- Coordinate mobilization of contractor manpower, materials, and equipment to the designated work locations, including laydown areas.
- Facilitate the issuance of necessary permits upon contractor request.
- Work closely with Project Engineers (PE), QP Construction Supervisors, and various internal stakeholders.
Progress & Reporting
- Prepare and submit daily activity reports, highlighting progress, constraints, and look-ahead plans.
- Report key issues, site events, progress trends, and recommendations for improvement to the Senior Construction Supervisor.
- Ensure completion and clearance of all Punch List items.
Quality & HSE Interface
- Liaise with QC Inspectors on all quality-related matters.
- Communicate with the HSE Supervisor to address safety concerns and ensure compliance.
Mechanical Completion & Commissioning
- Coordinate and support pre-commissioning activities.
- Assist the commissioning team during facility commissioning and handover.
- Initiate Mechanical Completion Certificates (MCC) and support issuance of other handover documentation.
Other Requirements
- The job involves extensive driving across the Dukhan field; therefore, candidates must hold a valid driving license (international licenses that can be easily converted to a Qatari license are preferred).
