CONSTRUCTION SUPERVISOR (PIPING)

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from an internationally recognized University.
  • Preferably having formal training in QA/QC functional aspects.

Experience:

  • Candidate shall be a safety leader.
  • Minimum of 10 years overall experience in piping erection (UG & AG), pressure testing, mechanical completion, and construction of oil and gas facilities.
  • Experience as an EPIC Contractor supervisor is essential. Experience as a Client or PMC supervisor is preferred.
  • Current experience in GCC industrial cities is required.
  • Piping inspection and rotating equipment experience is an advantage, and inspection coordination experience is desirable.
  • Extensive knowledge of international and industry-specific piping codes and standards, including ASME, ANSI B31.3 & B31.1, SHELL DEP’s, etc. Piping, Welding/NDT inspector certificates (AWS / ASNT / CSWIP / API) would be an advantage.
  • Extensive experience in pipe coating systems and procedures, including painting, galvanizing, wrapping, insulation, etc. BGAS certification would be an advantage.
  • Extensive experience in fabrication pipe spooling, pipe supports, and erection of carbon steel, stainless/alloy steel, uPVC, and GRE/GRV piping systems, including pressure testing, pre-commissioning, and mechanical completion inspections.
  • Excellent written and oral English skills. Able to read piping drawings, P&ID’s, and manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Specific experience in:
  • Greenfield/new build construction sites
  • Brownfield/live process plants
  • Permits to work, including Isolation & Lock Out/Tag Out of live services
  • Tie-in to live facilities, including testing and integration to existing systems
  • Extensive knowledge in Lifting Plan and Crane Studies (Approved Lifting Supervisor Certificate is an advantage)
  • Stage Inspection and Testing of Construction activities as per approved ITPs
  • Strong technical, prioritization, and management skills.
  • Good communication, influencing, and interface skills.
  • Proficient knowledge of computer programs (MS Office, Outlook, Excel, Word, PDF, PowerPoint) and engineering software applications relevant to the discipline.

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Acts as a safety leader, ensuring contractor’s work complies with all safety and environmental regulations.
    • Reporting to the Discipline Construction Lead/Senior Construction Supervisor on main issues, site events, progress reporting, trends, and recommendations for improvement.
    • Assist in review and/or approval of Construction documentation, including Method Statements, JHAs, MARs, and attend HSE Walkthroughs.
    • Supervise all piping installation activities based on approved engineering documentation and project schedule during execution.
    • Attend Requests For Inspections (RFIs) as per approved ITPs, including Material Receiving Inspections, and sign off relevant inspection and test reports/RFIs.
    • Ensure quality of manufacturing and erection works, dimensional accuracy, orientation, and compliance with material design specifications.
    • Lead the contractor on all mechanical aspects of piping works.
    • Supervise piping installation, line check, punch clearing, hydrotest, and reinstatement at site.
    • Manage and lead final mechanical completion inspections and punch closing.
    • Supervise Pre-Commissioning activities to ensure safety and quality of completed work.
    • Undertake technical integrity and HSE reviews/audits.
    • Participate in process safety management and PSSR, and provide support to Operations pre & start-up activity where instructed.
    • Coordinate mobilization of contractors on site.
    • Carry out daily checks on contractor’s staff and work to ensure compliance with specifications.
    • Maintain a daily record of progress (daily diary), noting special comments. Report anomalies or contractual deviations and recommend corrective actions.
    • Sign work permits and ensure contractor’s compliance with work permits.
    • Participate in development of as-built drawings/documentation.
    • Accountable for supervising contractor’s work in progress, inspecting work, reporting problems, and preventing accidents by enforcing safety standards.
    • Liaise and report with QA/QC Inspector on quality-related matters.
