Reports to Design Improvement Office Manager

Responsibilities and duties

You shall:

  • Comply with the Integrated Management System (IMS) and all relevant international rules and regulations;

  • Ensure all your duties in accordance with quality, health, safety, environmental and ethics policies;

  • Propose a continuous performance improvement plan which will be reported and reviewed on a periodical basis;

  • Be an expert in marine electrical power systems, electrical propulsion systems, electrical energy management, automation and electrical energy storage systems;

  • Provide transversal technical support to the Newbuilding department;

  • Analyze the design architecture of the power network and automation systems, and to propose improvements if needed

  • Analyze and propose functional description and operation philosophy of the systems

  • Have expertise on Human Machine Interface as operator oriented

  • Travel frequently to the various construction sites

  • Be capable to challenge commissioning and testing procedures of electrical equipment proposed by makers and yard

  • Occasionally, attend sea trials or vessels in operation;

  • Share your experience and feedback with the other engineers and departments;

  • Participate in the elaboration of Company standards and guidelines; 

  • Participate in drawings approval process;

  • You may be required to perform other duties

Minimum qualifications

  • Master’s degree in

    electrical

    engineering or marine electrician diploma or a combined mechanical & electrical marine engineer diploma

  • Fluent English

  • Knowledge in maritime

    regulations

  • Computer Office package (Excel ; Power point etc..)

Experience

  • 5 years’ experience as

    marine electrician on electric powered vessels

Or 5 years of experience in a commercial vessel with advanced electric power system (combination of DG’s, SG and Turbo generators or similar)

Or 5 year’s experience as electrician on complex offshore oil & gas plants (construction or operation)

Or 5 year’s experience as designer for electric power and propulsion systems

  • Desing, maintenance or operation of:

  • Electric power and propulsion systems

  • Batteries systems

  • Energy management systems

  • Automation systems
