Airswift is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer
to support a major player in the nuclear energy sector on a long-term assignment.
This role focuses on performing electrical and I&C engineering design modifications within a regulated nuclear environment. The selected candidate will act as the Lead Technical or Responsible Engineer, developing and implementing design changes that impact systems such as AC/DC power, switchgear, transformers, and digital instrumentation.
Responsibilities:
- Perform design modifications for electrical and I&C systems, including 4kV bus replacements, transformer upgrades, and motor-operated valve changes.
- Develop scopes, technical bases, installation, and testing requirements for electrical design packages.
- Lead the preparation and revision of specifications, technical requirement documents, calculations, drawings, and safety evaluations.
- Support work order reviews, field implementation, corrective action resolutions, and regulatory documentation updates.
- Conduct technical analysis, evaluate engineering alternatives, and present sound recommendations.
- Interface with engineering teams, suppliers, and implementation personnel to ensure quality and compliance throughout project execution.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical degree with relevant experience.
- 15+ years of electrical/I&C engineering experience in the nuclear industry.
- Qualification as a Modification Engineer under an INPO-accredited program or ability to obtain site-specific qualifications.
- Familiarity with Nuclear Asset Suite (NAS) and experience supporting digital and software-based system changes.
- Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access to a nuclear facility.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with sound technical judgment and leadership capability.
- Experience leading nuclear-related engineering projects from concept through implementation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Registration/Licensure as a Professional Engineer
- Experience in the 10CFR50.59 with respect to designing modifications to a nuclear facility
- Working level knowledge of ETAP software program.
- Working level knowledge of nuclear industry cyber security control practices
- Experience with nuclear industry standard design process
