Senior Electrical Engineer

Primary Purpose of the Job

Provide technical support and assurance to the operations team in Electrical Engineering for assigned projects, ensuring technical quality and integrity of work while meeting safety, time, and cost objectives, as well as operations and maintenance requirements.


Principal Accountabilities

  1. Deliver high-quality technical support in Electrical Engineering throughout all project stages.
  2. Review and verify technical designs, documents, and bids to meet approved standards and operational requirements.
  3. Ensure scope completeness and demonstrate hands-on experience in HV/LV substations, switchgears, motors, CP systems, small power and lighting, earthing, VSDS, batteries, and protection relays.
  4. Coordinate between Operations, Maintenance, and Asset Integrity teams to align project requirements.
  5. Identify potential hazards during engineering activities (e.g., document reviews, safety workshops, HAZID, HAZOP, QRA, FERA) and participate in technical meetings, commissioning, audits, and performance tests.
  6. Collaborate with engineering and project execution teams during FEED and EPC stages to integrate operational and HSE requirements.
  7. Resolve technical issues and punch lists during pre-commissioning and commissioning until successful handover.
  8. Support lead engineer or supervisor in implementing environmental, process, and safety policies.
  9. Ensure SIMOPS and project interface activities are properly planned for shutdown execution.
  10. Contribute to the development of local team capabilities.

Decision-Making Authority

  • Ensure technical deliverables meet quality and safety standards.
  • Provide assurance that asset and plant operations comply with approved design documents.

  • Technical decisions have significant safety, cost, and schedule impact.
  • Requires influencing skills in a multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural environment.
  • Resolve technical problems, verify design conditions, and assist during construction, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
  • Manage conflicting priorities, shutdowns, and tight project schedules.
  • Support skill development and stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications / Skills / Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; Chartered Engineer status preferred.
  • Minimum 15 years post-graduate experience, including 10 years in Oil & Gas with a reputable operator.
  • Mandatory experience in operations and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of international standards and design software (ETAP, CYME).
  • Exposure to consulting firms and EPC contractors with commissioning and handover experience is an advantage.
  • Strong technical fundamentals, communication, and presentation skills; fluent in English.
