Our client is seeking an Electrical Engineer III to work within their facilities located Lenexa, Kansas on a 12-month assignment.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development, review, and validation of electrical designs, ensuring alignment with project requirements, schedules, and performance objectives.
- Ensure all electrical engineering work complies with applicable codes and standards (NEC, IEC, IEEE, NFPA), client requirements, and industry best practices.
- Serve as the technical point of contact with the EPC contractor; review and approve design documents, calculations, and deliverables for accuracy, completeness, and contract compliance.
- Align electrical design deliverables with the facility owner’s standards, design philosophies, and operational requirements, ensuring compatibility with existing infrastructure and long term maintenance strategies.
- Collaborate closely with mechanical, civil/structural, process, and instrumentation teams to ensure electrical systems integrate cleanly within overall plant and system layouts.
- Review and validate vendor drawings, datasheets, and technical documents for major electrical equipment, including switchgear, transformers, MCCs, VFDs, UPS systems, and auxiliary equipment.
- Participate in multi disciplinary model reviews (e.g., 3D model, layout, routing) to identify spatial clashes, verify constructability, and maintain design consistency.
- Lead electrical design coordination across engineering, procurement, and construction phases, ensuring technical continuity from concept through commissioning.
- Manage design changes, technical deviations, RFIs, and clarifications, ensuring timely resolution and communication of impacts to stakeholders.
- Communicate design assumptions, constraints, and required inputs clearly to other engineering disciplines to maintain alignment across project deliverables.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 10+ years of directly related experience as an electrical engineer.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of electrical components, such as design of switchgear, transformers, MCCs, VFDs, UPS systems, and auxiliary equipment.
- Problem solving and leadership skills with proven ability to manage Contractor Electrical team
