We’re seeking an Engineer III to support engineering design, standards development, and technical services for natural gas distribution and transmission systems across North Carolina. You'll work on impactful infrastructure projects, and collaborate with cross?functional teams in a safety?focused, regulated environment, contributing to engineering solutions that enhance system reliability, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance while gaining exposure to complex projects and specialty engineering disciplines.
Role Overview
- Support pipeline and facility engineering design and technical reviews
- Assist with development and maintenance of engineering standards, procedures, and specifications
- Provide technical support to operations and construction teams
- Participate in engineering assessments, maintenance projects, and capital initiatives
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure design alignment and compliance
- Contribute to risk assessments, asset management reviews, and continuous improvement efforts
- Support specialty engineering functions such as corrosion control, materials, welding, HDD, or LNG (based on experience)
Key Requirements
- Minimum 4 years of engineering experience in design, technical services, or operations support
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Chemical Engineering, or related field (ABET?accredited or equivalent)
- Working knowledge of engineering codes and standards (DOT PHMSA, API, ASME preferred)
- Experience supporting engineering designs, specifications, or standards within energy, utilities, manufacturing, or consulting environments
- Proficiency with engineering tools, data analysis, and MS Office applications
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with natural gas transmission and/or distribution systems, including pipeline and facility design packages
- Experience with Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) facilities
- Background in oil and gas engineering, including equipment selection, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) designation or ability to obtain within a designated timeframe
