Job Summary
This role is responsible for the operation and surveillance of wells and equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable performance. The technician will monitor field conditions, execute corrective actions, document operational events, and support maintenance and wellwork activities as part of daily operations.
Main Functions
- Operate equipment and wells in alignment with safety procedures, operational guidelines, and the daily plan
- Reduce equipment failures by maintaining proper operating conditions and proactively identifying issues
- Assist in efficient use of resources through proper equipment handling, communication, and documentation
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out daily operational duties while upholding safety, health, environmental, and security standards
- Participate in toolbox meetings and routine safety discussions
- Continuously monitor wells and equipment, identifying optimization or corrective actions
- Perform basic maintenance tasks as an Equipment Care Technician
- Report immediately when alarm systems, emergency functions, or shutdown mechanisms are not operational
- Provide clear and complete shift handover information to maintain operational continuity
- Coordinate and oversee maintenance work according to preventive, predictive, and corrective plans
- Record operational events, abnormalities, and deviations in the logbook
- Collect samples and conduct field-level laboratory testing
- Take part in emergency response actions as required
- Document and escalate incidents following established incident reporting guidelines
- Maintain communication with the Operations Shift Supervisor regarding all operational activities
- Ensure effective communication across the team to address issues promptly
- Provide essential information regarding well performance, production rates, and equipment condition
- Confirm proper diagnostics of well issues prior to requesting any well intervention work
- Verify that wellheads and surface equipment are in proper condition before wellwork teams assume control
- Support ongoing wellwork operations when needed
Basic / Required Qualifications
- Completion of secondary education
- Previous experience as a Field Technician
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High level of safety awareness and ability to reinforce safe behaviors in others
- Solid understanding of pipeline operations
- Knowledge of safety systems, operational management tools, and emergency procedures
- Familiarity with project design philosophies and applicable regulations
- Understanding of relevant commercial agreements
Preferred Qualifications
- 1–2 years of chemical-related experience
- 3–5 years of oil production experience
- Proficiency with digital tools, including mapping systems, inventory applications, and Office software
