Join a leading energy company in Papua New Guinea as an Accountant Intern, where you'll play a crucial role in the financial operations of major gas field developments.

Role Overview

  • General Accounting: Manage accounting across various companies, including cash calls and billing for joint ventures.
  • Monthly Reconciliation: Conduct monthly general ledger reconciliations and propose necessary journal entries.
  • Bank Reconciliation: Review and prepare weekly and monthly bank reconciliations for all group companies.
  • Journal Management: Ensure timely preparation and posting of general journals in SAP.
  • Fiscal Compliance: Facilitate monthly and annual fiscal compliance and reporting.
  • Asset and Liability Review: Reconcile and review asset and liability movements monthly.
  • Audit Assistance: Support the Chief Accountant during statutory and group audits.
  • Vendor Management: Assist in vendor creation and modification processes.
  • Tax Filings: Prepare and lodge tax forms and filings monthly.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Banking Knowledge: Understanding of banking processes and reconciliation.
  • Accounting Interfaces: Familiarity with accounting software and interfaces, particularly SAP.
  • Corporate Finance Acumen: Knowledge of corporate finance principles.
  • Financial Analysis Skills: Ability to analyze financial data effectively.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Analytical Skills: Proficient in analytical thinking and problem-solving.
  • Excel Proficiency: Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.

Education & Experience

  • Degree in Accounting or equivalent required.
  • Knowledge of Oil & Gas business environment is advantageous.
