Our client, a major O&G company, is looking for a Geoscientist/Explorationist Onshore to work on a 12-month contract in Houston, TX area


 
Geoscientist with 5-10 years of experience in unconventional reservoirs including hands-on work with an E&P operator. Experience in evaluating unconventional onshore basins, supporting acquisition and leasing strategies, and identifying new investment opportunities. The position requires expertise in reservoir characterization, petroleum systems analysis, seismic and well

log interpretation, and multidisciplinary data integration. The role also supports non

?

operated project decisions, business planning, and reserves reporting. Strong communication and problem

?

solving skills are essential, along with the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects.

Technical and Analytical Expertise: 

  • Experience in basin evaluation within unconventional settings onshore. Ability to perform regional geological risk and resource analyses across diverse unconventional play types (mainly North America onshore). 
  • Support acquisition planning and organic leasing for future development. Identify, screen, and rank new investment opportunities aligned with organizational strategy. 
  • Evaluate short-cycle data room opportunities, providing actionable recommendations. 
  • Advanced geotechnical proficiency in unconventional reservoir characterization, petroleum systems analysis, and uncertainty/risk assessment. Skilled in well log & seismic interpretation, applying sequence and seismic stratigraphy concepts, and placing areas of interest into a regional context.
  • Provide technical guidance on non-operated projects, mainly AFE decisions, annual business plan, and SEC reserves reporting. 
  • Integrate and interpret multidisciplinary data: core/cuttings, well logs, seismic, geochemical, production history, and engineering datasets. 
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to assess prospect economics and deliver integrated subsurface prospectivity evaluations and recommendations. 
  • Map and communicate resource potential through geologic products. 
  • Evaluate and integrate competitor activity and results.

  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment, manage multiple projects, and deliver within short deadlines. 

Required Experience: 

  • 5-10 years of Exploration & Production (E&P) experience, preferably 5+ years of experience in onshore unconventional assets. 
  • Data analysis and geologic mapping
  • Proficiency using GIS software and analysis tools.
  • Experience with Decision Space Geosciences
