Job Title: Head of Mechanical Engineering (Static Equipment)

Location: Doha & Ras Laffan Project Site Offices

Role Overview

The Head of Mechanical Engineering (Static Equipment) is responsible for overseeing the design and installation of all mechanical works related to LPG and condensate storage tanks and solid sulphur handling within the department Offplot development program. The role ensures that FEED and EPC contractors deliver technical requirements and discipline documents in full compliance with project specifications, codes, and standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safety, Health, Environment & Quality

  • Demonstrate strong SHES leadership and maintain the highest safety standards.
  • Actively participate in Toolbox Talks, Task Instructions, and site safety walkthroughs.
  • Ensure compliance with Company Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality policies.
  • Engineering Oversight

  • Review and approve mechanical discipline deliverables, including data sheets, ensuring alignment with project scope and requirements.
  • Monitor contractor progress and ensure timely issuance of documents listed in the Master Document Register.
  • Manage contractor resources for mechanical discipline to ensure timely completion of work.
  • Design & Technical Assurance

  • Oversee design review sessions during FEED and detailed design phases; track and close out comments/issues promptly.
  • Participate in workshops such as Plot Plan/Layouts, Constructability, and 3D model reviews.
  • Support preparation of static equipment spare parts identification and quantification.
  • Project Coordination

  • Collaborate with internal teams (Civil, Marine, Electrical, Instrumentation, Loss Prevention) and external stakeholders (FEED/EPC contractors, vendors, consultants).
  • Support change management processes, analyze change orders, and prepare recommendations.
  • Contribute to risk management by identifying risks/issues and tracking mitigation actions.
  • Continuous Improvement

  • Track and report lessons learned; ensure improvements are incorporated into design deliverables.
  • Provide technical input for technology adoption and continuous improvement initiatives.

    • Occasional site visits and engagement with contractors/vendors.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
    • Experience:

    • Minimum 10 years in engineering roles, including 6 years in Oil & Gas.
    • At least 2 years in a supervisory or oversight capacity.
  • Technical Expertise:

  • Extensive experience across all project phases, including start-up and handover.
  • Strong knowledge of international engineering standards (ASME, API, TEMA).
  • Experience in designing pressure vessels, heat exchangers, columns, and storage tanks.
  • Skills:

  • Fluent in English (written and oral).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and planning skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and engineering software tools.
  • Familiarity with risk assessment, change management, and interface management.
