Head of Project Engineering
The Head of Project Engineering is responsible for overseeing the engineering design and execution carried out by the EPC/FEED Contractor and its subcontractors, ensuring the quality of the design meets project milestones and budget. The role involves leading and coordinating project activities between the EPC/FEED and Onplot Project Management Teams to ensure detailed design deliverables are executed on schedule to support procurement, construction, and commissioning. This position also drives the Contractor's performance based on key performance indicators (KPIs) and ensures that all engineering deliverables are integrated with other project groups to support overall project execution.
Key Job Accountabilities
- Lead multi-discipline activities within the Project Management Team and coordinate with EPC/FEED contractor for engineering, procurement, and construction activities to meet milestones and budget.
- Support Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning to ensure plans are clearly understood and executed collaboratively.
- Monitor execution plans using KPIs, detect deviations, and enable early intervention; report performance through weekly and monthly delivery reports.
- Understand interdisciplinary dependencies to make informed decisions with multi-discipline impacts; apply risk management techniques and communicate key technical issues to management.
- Promote and uphold the project safety program principles; lead safety culture initiatives and participate in site safety walks.
- Lead change management processes, ensuring documentation and risk mitigation for design changes.
- Evaluate and recommend participation in equipment testing, site visits, and contractor performance assessments; monitor progress against milestones, schedule, safety, and quality standards.
- Provide leadership to resolve multi-discipline issues and drive alignment and decision-making among stakeholders.
Qualifications (Mandatory)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Engineering.
Knowledge and Experience
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in the oil & gas industry with strong background in detailed engineering management of major projects.
- Preferably experience on large-scale LNG projects, including at least 1 year in a supervisory or oversight role.
- Experience in:
- Engineering leadership and multi-discipline coordination.
- Design safety aspects of engineering.
- Risk assessment and decision-making.
- Large process unit design.
- Working with major EPC/FEED contractors in a lump-sum environment.
- Field engineering experience desirable.
- Technical background as a discipline engineer and experience as Project Engineer or Field Engineer.
Technical and Business Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to lead and communicate at all organizational levels.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Good teamwork, facilitation, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Risk management experience.
